Horacio Gallegos was born in , TX and grew up on both sides of the Texas/Mexico border. His advanced education track includes graduating from St. Edward's University in Austin with BBA in Business Administration in 1997 and an MA in Advertising from the University of Texas in 2001. During and after college, Horacio had the rare opportunity to travel, work, or study abroad in 20 countries. This expanded his real-world knowledge of international business and cultures. He also worked in several marketing roles at Austin start-up, NetSpend and computer giant, Dell, Inc. As a calling, he began doing real estate in 2005 on the residential side and also investing and rehabbing 6 properties over the next three years. His experience gave him a solid "hands-on" background navigating the real estate markets. In 2007, Horacio became a founding partner in a Texas-based firm that generated U.S. and Canadian buyer leads online through Search Engine Optimization for exclusive resort properties in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. This is where he began to learn the power of the internet and online traffic applied with advantage to the real estate business. During these years, Horacio was also certified by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) to teach the courses "Doing Business in Mexico" to U.S. Realtors and "Doing Business in the U.S." to Mexican Realtors. In 2011, he was also named Chair of the International Committee of the Texas Association of Realtors. After doing a few successful commercial transactions, Horacio realized he enjoyed and had affinity for commercial real estate brokerage. He was now motivated to learn the craft and make it his specialty. With 100% commitment, he dropped his solid book of residential clients and started over from scratch. For the rest of his career, he never did another residential deal. During the last 3 years of his CRE career, Horacio focused on retail landlord representation, undertaking mostly leasing and preferred investment sales. He worked for the Austin-based firm, Retail Solutions, in its Rio Grande Valley office. And during his stint at the firm, he was awarded his CCIM designation, the highest designation a CRE pro can achieve, with only 15K CRE pros worldwide attaining the designation. Also during his last two years, Horacio (almost by accident) started to consult with a few select real estate offices exploring effective digital marketing strategies. With a touch of magic, Horacio found his true calling. He was able to combine his decade of RE experience and his many years of practice and education in digital marketing, content creation, and teaching. Since 2013, Horacio has consulted with a vast number of businesses. He employs a winning strategy leveraging cutting edge SEO, video, and content marketing methods to help his clients connect with their audience and gain visibility and traction with their real estate investment opportunities. After working with Ricardo Rubiano for many years in the past as a retail broker in his office, in 2018 Horacio became Director of Client Relations and Communications at RubiGroup Capital.

Ricardo Rubiano - Founder

Job Titles:
  • Founder
  • Member of the Leadership Team
  • Principal
Ricardo Rubiano has been involved in real estate development since 1996. Generations of his family have been in the business since 1908 when his great-grandfather Col. Eleuterio Reyna began installing both railroad and potable water lines to cities along the US-Mexico border. Reyna had served in Madero's army against outlaw Pancho Villa and looked to create stability for his family by owning real estate. The idea of developing real estate never left Ricardo as both his grandfather and father continued in the development business. Five generations of his family have now stretched across the Rio Grande Valley. First key to success, Rubiano is from here. Born in Texas and an alum of the United States Naval Academy and Texas A&M University, Ricardo grew up on both sides of the US-Mexican border understanding the benefits and pitfalls of the cross-cultural traffic. In 1995, after service in the United States Marine Corps, a chance transaction brought him back to his roots and Rubiano has been involved in real estate development ever since. His first projects were ambitious, single-family developments in excess of 100 acres each. Water's Edge in Harlingen and Pecan Grove in Weslaco both built from 1999 to 2004 stand today as proof of design yielding value. Baseball fields, soccer fields, jogging trails and parks are surrounded by family homes that enjoy these features daily. Ricardo personally designed these developments, built them from the ground up and maintained them until handing them over the respective HOAs. Today he lives on 30 acres at Water's Edge as a testament to the quality of the product he delivers surrounded by his clients. During the recession of 2006-2010, Rubiano focused on buying and selling distressed assets from banks and private lenders like the Bank of America tower in Harlingen TX, 10,000-15,000 SF retail centers and 80/100-unit multi-family projects in the Rio Grande Valley. In 2009, he began purchasing distressed development tracts from local banks. These ranged in size from 2 acres to 25 acres with a focus on traffic signal intersections, Grocer/Walmart-shadowed and high levels of vehicular traffic and all purchased below 35% of current appraised values. Today, Rubiano owns and or has developed Class-A development projects in Brownsville, Weslaco, San Juan, Harlingen, Pharr, Edinburg and Laredo with tenants such as Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Sprint, AT&T, Dunkin Donuts, McAlister's Deli, The Cash Store, Just-a-Cut, T Mobile, and Panda Express to name a few. Rubiano also owns a 320-unit apartment complex development in Weslaco TX with two other multi-family developments in Pharr (168 units) and Edinburg (275 units) on the drawing board. Ricardo Rubiano founded RubiGroup Capital in 1996. His family has been in the Rio Grande Valley for generations, and his firm benefits from the detailed market knowledge passed from one generation to the next. RubiGroup's residential, retail, and mixed-use projects are suitable for high net worth investors, family offices, and capital groups seeking high-yield investments of between $5 and $10 million with a 3-5 year investment window. The firm looks at hundreds of data point variables to create a decision tree before deciding to invest in a property. Their attention to detail and proven track record of profitable developments have earned the respect of lenders, local leaders, and investors alike.
