Before joining Schmitt Teworte-Vey Simon & Schumacher, she worked in various law firms having a focus in intellectual property law and in an international law firm in Cologne. Dr. Jan Schumacher

Before joining Schmitt Teworte-Vey Simon & Schumacher, Jan used to work at international law firms as well as IP boutique law firms in Cologne and Dusseldorf. Jan is a certified specialist in Intellectual Property law. He is author of several legal publications and holds lectures on various IP issues. IP STARS, the leading specialist guide to IP law firms and practitioners worldwide, ranks Jan as a "Trade Mark Star" 2023. Dr. Linda Bienemann

Linda Bienemann is a lawyer at our firm. During her law studies at the University of Cologne, she specialised in media and press law, freedom of speech, copyright as well as IT law. From 2017 to 2019, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of European and International Information and Data Law with Prof. Dr Louisa Specht-Riemenschneider at the Universities of Passau and Bonn. Her main area of practice was data and data protection law, copyright and artistic copyright law, as well as internet and media law. In addition, she published a wide range of academic papers during her time at the chair and continues to write commentaries on data protection law.

Dr. Marie Teworte-Vey

Marie Teworte-Vey is a founding partner of the firm and was admitted to the bar in 2007. Before founding Schmitt, Teworte-Vey, Simon & Schumacher, she worked for CBH Attorneys at Law for more than 11 years. Her practice focuses on trademark and competition law as well as design and copyright law. She advises and represents national and international companies in litigation, trademark application and other official proceedings at both German and EU level. In addition, she is involved in the drafting of coexistence agreements and the review of advertising measures. A further focus of her work is press law. She has successfully completed the training course for Certified Specialists in Intellectual Property Law. Marie Teworte-Vey is a former scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Cologne Bar Association. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Corporate Law Clinic e.V. of the University of Cologne. In Kanzleimonitor 2019/2020 she is recommended as an attorney in the field of intellectual property law. In the JUVE Handbook "Commercial Law Firms 2021/2022" she is named as a lawyer often recommended ("excellent trademark lawyer", "precise and responsive, speaks faster than I can think", clients).

Dr. Matthias Humborg

Matthias Humborg joined the law firm in 2023 as Of Counsel. Prior to that, he led the IP section of the corporate legal department of a globally operating food/tourism company headquartered in Cologne. Matthias planned, built up and integrated the legal department into the group. In addition to the central management of the group's worldwide trademark portfolio, he also advised the affiliated companies on competition law matters. He provided legal support for all kinds of marketing activities and image campaigns of the group, was responsible for questions concerning the development of private label articles and advised on licensing and sponsoring issues.
