Benjamin Nash

Benjamin Nash was named assistant equipment manager with the University of Maryland in June, 2014. Nash, who is the primary equipment manager for the men's basketball and wrestling teams, directs the ordering and distribution of equipment and apparel for both programs. Nash's additional responsibilities include overseeing the locker room and facilities for student-athletes and coaches at XFINITY Center. He is also the liaison between the equipment department and Under Armour - the official outfitter of Maryland's varsity intercollegiate athletics programs. Prior to joining Maryland, Nash served as an assistant equipment manager at Virginia, working with the football program during the 2014 season. Nash also was an assistant equipment manager at UCONN during the 2013-14 season and was the head student equipment manager at Towson University from 2011-13. He also served as regional sales executive at Bolt Athletics from 2010-11. A 2013 graduate Towson University, Nash earned a degree in sports management with a minor in business.

Brad Hastings

Decorated golfer Brad Hastings joined the Maryland men's golf staff as an assistant coach, head coach Jason Rodenhaver announced in the summer of 2018. Hastings brings years of coaching, athletics management and golf experience. He was named the 1999 Big South Golfer of the Year at Coastal Carolina and played four years of collegiate golf for the Chanticleers. He was an assistant golf professional at the University of Maryland Golf Course. "We're thrilled to have Brad join our program," Rodenhaver said. "I've known Brad for almost 20 years. I coached against his Coastal Carolina teams back when I was an assistant coach. He's highly motivated, ultra-competitive and a fantastic player. He brings a wealth of golf knowledge to our program and we can't wait to have him hit the recruiting trail this summer." Hastings was a student-athlete advisor for the golf program at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in 2016. Prior to his time at IMG, he served as director of athletics at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton for four years, through May 2016. He oversaw the school's athletics budget, scheduling of games, transportation and worked with the booster club for fundraising.

Brian Thornburg

Brian Thornburg joined the Terrapin Club staff as the Associate Athletics Director for Major Gifts in March 2016. In his role, Brian oversees the major gift program and helps implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors. He also serves as the fundraising liaison for men's lacrosse and men's and women's golf. Prior to Maryland, Brian most recently worked at Penn State University where he served as the Director of Major Gifts for the Nittany Lion Club (2013-2016). Before Penn State, he served as the Assistant Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics and the Associate Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics, respectively, for the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund, Inc. (2002-2013). Prior to Virginia Tech, Brian served as the Intern for Annual Giving for the NC State Student Aid Association/Wolfpack Club (2001-2002). Brian is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Advertising from the School of Media and Journalism, with a minor in Public Policy Analysis. In 2001, he received his Masters of Education in Sport Management from the University of Georgia. Brian is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD). A native of Icard, NC, Brian resides in Washington, DC. with his wife, Allison.

Carroll Kennedy

Carroll Kennedy joined the Maryland lacrosse staff in the fall of 2021 as the team's volunteer assistant coach. Kennedy comes to Maryland after serving in the same role at Hartford during the 2021 season. Kennedy helped lead the Hawks to a pair of wins during a shortened spring season in 2021, previously serving as the head coach at Lincoln Memorial University, in Harrogate, Tennessee for two seasons before. Kennedy led Lincoln Memorial to a 2-4 record in 2020, a campaign that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his first season at the helm in 2019, the Railsplitters went 4-10. Prior to his stint at Lincoln Memorial, Kennedy served as an assistant coach at Limestone College, where he was named the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015. During his five seasons in Gaffney, S.C., he guided the Saints to three NCAA Division II Championships and a 92-12 overall record. In addition, Limestone advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship Game in each of his four seasons. During his time at Limestone, Kennedy developed one of the nation's top defensive units, as the team has finished in the nation's top-five in two straight seasons in 2015 and 2016 (7.36 goals allowed per game). While with the Saints, he guided five defensive players to a combined nine All-America honors. He also worked with the team's faceoff specialists, a unit that consistently led the nation in winning percentage during his tenure. Kennedy played lacrosse at the collegiate level for four years, beginning his career at Monroe Community College (2007-08) before transferring to Adelphi University (2009-10). A Second Team All-Region selection at Monroe Community College, he helped guide Adelphi to a 10-5 record and a return to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Kennedy capped off his career by earning a spot on the NE-10 Spring All-Conference Team in 2010. After graduation, Kennedy returned to his alma mater to kick off his college coaching career. As an assistant coach, he helped lead Adelphi to a 14-3 overall record, a No. 4 national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals. Kennedy graduated in 2010 from Adelphi with a Bachelor's in sports management with a minor in business. In May of 2013, he earned a Master of Arts in Physical Education from Adelphi.

Cydnie Brown

Cydnie Brown joined the Gossett Student-Athlete Center in August of 2021 as an Assistant Learning Specialist and is thrilled to be joining the staff full-time as a Learning Specialist for Olympic Sports and the Athletic Academic Counselor for Men's Golf. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Cydnie has always loved learning and possesses a zest for helping people. Before graduating in 2020 from Randolph- Macon College with her Business Management degree, Cydnie spent her time volunteering on Randolph- Macon's campus desiring to help others succeed and transform throughout their academic career. Through her work as a Tour Guide and collaborative classroom support teacher, Cydnie became interested in the admissions process and aspired to combine her love of sports and academia. Being in love with sports her whole life, Cydnie joined Virginia Commonwealth University's Center for Sport Leadership Class of 2021. Simultaneously, she gained experience in academic advising through the University of Richmond's Student-Athlete Academic Support office. Soon after graduation Cydnie landed a job at a Division I university in Natchitoches, Louisiana (Northwestern State University). After their Summer Bridge Program, Cydnie transitioned to an Assistant Learning Specialist role at the University of Maryland in College Park. Cydnie is the youngest (and favorite) daughter of Kendell and David Anderson. She resides in Laurel, MD and spends her free time cooking, shopping, and watching Survivor and The Amazing Race.

Damon Evans

Damon Evans was named the Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics for the University of Maryland on June 25, 2018. He oversees a department with 20 varsity sports and 500 student-athletes, a full-time staff of more than 200, and an annual budget of $95 million. Evans' philosophy of success for Maryland Athletics is based on the concept of "One Maryland," a vision to unify the entire Maryland community to achieve unparalleled success in College Park. During Evans tenure at Maryland, the Terrapins have claimed 40 Big Ten Championships and Tournament titles, the third-most of any conference institution during that span. The Terps have captured five National Championship since 2014. In October of 2021, Evans was named to the NCAA Transformation Committee, which is charged with making recommendations to the NCAA Board of Directors for how to address Division I's most significant challenges and more effectively meet the needs of current and future student-athletes. Evans joined the Terrapins in December of 2014 and served as Executive Athletic Director and Chief Financial Officer. He had overseen all day-to-day operations for the athletic department since October of 2017 prior to his appointment as Director of Athletics. Prior to joining Maryland Athletics, Evans was a managing partner at Evolution Sports Partners in New Jersey. The new business focused on technology, analytics, and consulting services for athletic organizations. Evans was also the vice president of fundraising at IMG College in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was tasked with developing the company's fundraising arm, which provided resources to institutions that would allow for the execution of a fundraising strategy. Evans was also the vice president of business development at the Markley Group in Boston from August 2010 - March 2013. As the director of athletics at the University of Georgia from 2004-10, Evans managed a program with 600 student-athletes, an $85 million budget and a staff of 250. The Bulldogs won 13 national championships and 19 SEC titles during Evans' tenure. Under Evans' guidance, Georgia annually finished in the top 10 in the Learfield Director's Cup and also amassed $65 million for the athletic department's reserve fund, an increase of over $56 million in just a six-year period. In 2009, Evans was named the Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year for the Division I Southeast Region. He earned the Sports Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" award in 2004, 2005 and 2007. The May 5, 2003 edition of Sports Illustrated rated Evans as one of the "101 Most Influential Minorities in Sports." In Evans' second year as director of athletics, Georgia was recognized as the "Nation's Most Profitable Intercollegiate Athletics Program," according to an EADA report. Evans maintained multiple leadership positions outside of his work in Athens, serving as the first-ever chair of the NCAA Leadership Council from 2008-10. Evans was also the Capital Campaign Chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Athens from 2005-09. A four-year starter on Georgia's football team, Evans played in three bowl games under legendary head coach Vince Dooley. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance in 1992 and a master's degree of education in sports management in 1994, both from Georgia. Evans and his wife Kerri have two children, Cameron and Kennedy.

Garrett Nixon ‘15 was promoted to assistant director for annual giving in November 2018. His primary responsibilities include working with donors in Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Baltimore counties as well as Baltimore City. In addition, Garrett works closely with growing the Terrapin Club Young Alumni Program. Nixon served as development coordinator (2016-2018), development assistant (2015-2016) and Terrapin Club intern (2014-2015) before assuming this full-time role. Nixon comes from a family of Terps as the son of Robert ‘82 and brother of Chrissy ‘13. Nixon received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Maryland in 2015. Born in Crownsville, Nixon now resides in Baltimore. He likes to run, golf, and vacation in Ocean City.

David Kocher made four straight NCAA Regionals appearances (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and earned All-Big Ten honors in 2015, 2016 and 2018. In 2017, Kocher finished tied for fourth at the Big Ten Championships, earning a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team. He finished tied for fifth in the 2018 Big Ten Championships and earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team once again. Peter Knade was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team in 2019. In his senior season, Tom Harris earned an NCAA Regionals bid with Kocher, making two Terrapins in the NCAA field in 2016. Then-sophomore Peter Knade joined Kocher with an NCAA Regionals bid in 2018. Prior to his role as the director of intercollegiate golf for both teams, Rodenhaver became the first head coach of the women's golf program in 1999. Overall, he served as the women's golf head coach for 12 years and has been associated with Maryland golf as a head coach, assistant, and student-athlete for over two decades. Rodenhaver led the women's program to six NCAA Regionals appearances, 18 team wins, 10 All-ACC honorees, 13 Academic All-Americans and seven individual tournament wins. In his three years with the men's team, he's helped the Terrapins make six NCAA Regionals individual appearances. His teams have won the President's Cup five consecutive times and have earned three All-Conference honors. Rodenhaver played three seasons for the Terrapins and led the team to a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championship in 1994. That finish was the best for Maryland since 1978. He was a two-year captain of the men's golf team and participated in the NCAA East Regional in his senior season.

Jim Knight

Jim Knight joined the Maryland athletics department in 2004 as an Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager working with the women's basketball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's golf, and women's golf programs. Since starting at Maryland, Knight has worked with 11 NCAA championship teams. Prior coming to Maryland, Knight was the head athletic equipment manager at Boston College and Lehigh University. He was also an assistant manager for the NFL's Washington Redskins. A native of Rochester, N.Y., Knight earned am associate's degree in retail business management at Monroe Community College, a bachelor's degree in history from the State University of New York at Brockport, and a Masters of Sport Science degree in sport management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala. Knight has his certification with the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.

John Phillips

John Phillips, who has coached in each of the last eight NCAA Championships and has deep roots in the region, was named the head coach of the Maryland men's golf program on July 5, 2022. Prior to coming to College Park, Phillips served as the assistant coach at the University of Virginia for six seasons as the Cavaliers received a berth to the NCAA Championships in each of those campaigns. Phillips was also instrumental in two Virginia golfers winning ACC individual titles. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Phillips has coached four All-Americans and 12 Academic All-Americans and has been a part of three conference champions. Phillips joined the Virginia staff in August of 2016 after helping Virginia Commonwealth to three consecutive Atlantic 10 titles from 2014-16. He spent four seasons with the Rams, joining the staff in 2012. While at Virginia, Phillips coached All-American Thomas Walsh who won the 2018 ACC Championship, shooting a record 16-under 200 in the event. In 2017, his first season with the Cavaliers, Virginia won four tournaments, finished as the runner-up in two other events and placed 10th at the NCAA Championships, the best showing in program history. Jimmy Stanger won the ACC individual title and three Cavaliers earned All-America honors. During his tenure at VCU, the Rams won six tournament titles, had five individual tournament medalists, saw 11 players receive all-conference honors and had six players named All-American Scholars. As a player, Phillips was a four-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selection and guided Bridgewater College to the 2010 ODAC team title and an appearance in that year's NCAA Division III Championship. A two-year captain, Phillips was named a Cleveland/Srixon Academic All-American in 2011 and 2012. Phillips graduated from Bridgewater in 2011 with a degree in business administration. He is a product of the VCU Center for Sport Leadership. Phillips received his master's in sport leadership from the program in 2013.

Jordan Looby has served as the Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience since August 2021. In this role, Looby directs the day-to-day operations of the Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience unit. He joined the Maryland staff as a Marketing Assistant in January 2013. In August of that same year, he became the Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience before being promoted to Director in August 2015. He was elevated to Assistant AD in October 2017. Upon graduation, he attended Georgetown University where he earned a master's degree in Sports Industry Management.
