I believe in the Japanese concept of Ichi-go Ichi-e, meaning "one time, one meeting." Since this term can also be translated as "for this time only," and "once in a lifetime," it is perhaps equivalent in some sense to Cartier-Bresson's "decisive moment" when applied to photography. But Ichi-go Ichi-e pertains to one's life-not just in capturing a singular moment in time. Cognizant that any moment in life can never be repeated, I cherish each once-in-a-lifetime moment.
