Biodetic was first developed over 20 years ago for a diabetic patient with extreme xeroderma and heel fissures. It has been commercially available since 1990. Since 2009, it is the cream of choice for the patients of IDHC (Indigenous Diabetic Health Circle) and is included in their diabetic resource kits. Biodetic is unscented and dye free. There is no lanolin, so any one sensitive to wool can use this product. It contains no urea, making it safe for those allergic to urea. It contains no parabens or other synthetic preservatives. The unique combination of glycerin and castor oil act as a preservative... Moreover, Biodetic has no petroleum-based ingredients (i.e. petrolatum). Thus, fibres of compression stockings are not affected. All of the above attributes make Biodetic extremely hypoallergenic and favourable for sensitive skin. Biodetic can also be used on hands and on the skin of flexural areas such as elbows and knees. It is not recommended for the face, as it maybe acne..
