BOHLKEN HOUSE

Take one look at the Bohlken House's wonderful Victorian-era details and it's no surprise that this once was the home of one of Hermann's best-known steamboat builders. John Bohlken built the house in 1910 for his family. But when it was completed his wife, Louisa, decided it was too big and the house sat empty for four years. Eventually, Louisa conceded and the family moved in.
