I spent most of my career in the field of Human Resources (HR), firstly in the Natural Environment Research Council and then as HR Director in the House of Lords. While I did lots of interesting things and met lots of amazing people during my career, the 2020 pandemic made me question what I was doing and why I was doing it and so I semi-retired at the end of that year.
As I've been interested in inclusion and wellbeing both professionally and personally, I was very keen to seek opportunities to contribute my skills and knowledge which maintained these interests locally in Swindon and Wiltshire. I've been fortunate to join the Wiltshire FA's Inclusion Advisory Group which has continued my lifelong connection to football, and I'm also now delighted to have joined the Board of Trustees at Carer Support Wiltshire. Although my time jointly caring for my parents is now in the past, knowing that a charity such as Carer Support Wiltshire exists could have made a real difference for my family and me.
Married to Jo with two grown-up children, one of the many benefits of my semi-retirement is that we have been able to walk around many parts of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and to have more (mainly UK!) holidays than we were able to when I was working.
