The media often adds to the confusion. In the past, we heard stories of suicide by sticking a garden hose in a car's tailpipe and window, then revving the motor till the CO (carbon monoxide) puts the car's occupant to sleep (True). Today we are wrongly told our car's tailpipe is a major source of the "deadly" greenhouse gas CO2. (Not true, it is CO, Carbon Monoxide) It's easy to see why we are confused. Tolerance/danger levels also differ like chalk from cheese. CO at only 700 ppm is life threatening, and CO2 only at levels of 80,000ppm is it life threatening.
