Wayne Weaire

Wayne Weaire is the principle Counsellor and Therapist at Counselling Ballarat. Wayne has been a counsellor and family therapist since 1998. Wayne firstly studied a four year Bachelor of Theology at Trinity College - University of Melbourne from 1980 to 1983, with studies in Pastoral Counselling and Clinical Pastoral Care at the Austin Hospital Melbourne. In 1995 Wayne commenced studying Family and Systems Therapy, receiving his clinical registration as a family therapist with the Victorian Association of Family Therapists in 1998 and continues to be a Professional Member of the Australian Association of Family Therapy. Since that time he has practised in youth and family services organisations as well as in private practice in various places in Victoria. More recently he has provided clinical supervision to social work and counselling students and practitioners in rural Victorian healthcare. Wayne's works with individuals, couples (including same-sex couples) and families. His therapy draws largely from the areas of cognitive behavioural therapy, brief therapy and narrative therapy, all within a systems and contextual theory framework. Wayne also uses a combination of intuitive listening, insightful reflection and empowerment for change and healing. Additionally, Wayne has worked in the youth and child protection system and spent a number of years on the State Management Board of VAFT and facilitated a number of training and professional development courses.
