Astrid W Countee - Treasurer

Astrid is a technologist and anthropologist working on research and strategy at the intersection of tech ethics, emerging technologies, and open source communities. She currently works as a Research Consultant with tech startups. She has a MA in Anthropology from University of Houston and a BA in Psychology. She also also graduated from The Iron Yard programming bootcamp and most recently participated in the Inaugural cohort of On Deck's Climate Tech Fellowship. Astrid has served on the Board of Directors since November of 2021, and holds the position of Treasurer.

Coraline Ada Ehmke - Founder, President

Coraline Ada Ehmke is an internationally recognized engineer, speaker, and activist with over 25 years of industry experience. In 2014 Coraline created Contributor Covenant, the first and most popular code of conduct for open source communities. In 2018, she addressed the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights on human rights abuses in the tech industry. Coraline is also the creator of the Hippocratic License, the premiere ethical source license, and is the founder of the Organization for Ethical Source. Coraline co-founded OES in 2019 and currently serves as its Executive Director.

Mike Nolan

Mike Nolan is a software engineer and open source community strategy consultant currently helping run Open@RIT as the Associate Director. He also acts as the director of the Federation of Humanitarian Technologists. With work experience stemming from tech companies such as Amazon and GIPHY to large humanitarian organizations such as the International Rescue Committee and UNICEF, he seeks to develop better ways to create technology that benefits humanity. Mike has served on the OES Board of Directors since November of 2022.

Sameeul Haque - VP

Sean Bailey

Sean is a software developer and educator currently living in Manhattan. They studied computer science and philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh, where they also taught. For years, they have been involved in progressive politics and activism, as well as mentorship of under-represented minorities and folks from non-traditional backgrounds entering tech. They are passionate about education, accessibility, and ethics in technology. Sean has served on the OES Board of Directors since November of 2022.

Will Barton

Will is a software developer with 20 years of experience in civic tech. He has a particular interest in the political work done by software systems and the power dynamics algorithms encode. Will has previously served on the Wagtail Content Management System core team and the DarwinPorts (now MacPorts) core team, and is an author of several Django and Wagtail libraries. Will has served on the OES Board of Directors since November of 2022.
