Kyloe Cottage is named after Kyloe copper mine, which was located at the foot of Mount Cobrabald which is directly across Lake Eucumbene. The mine operated until 1913, remnants of building and the pit still remain. The word "kyloe" means cattle in the Scottish Gaelic language.
