"My recovery must come first so that everything I love in life does not come last." Russ Kyle During my career as a clinical social worker, I've been asked one question multiple times. What is my why? Why do I do what I do? I have been asked this multiple times by mentors, colleagues, and clients. The reason why I became a therapist was to speak for those people who needed help but who couldn't or wouldn't speak for themselves. My reasons for choosing this career haven't changed but the way I approach has. Instead of speaking for my clients who can't speak for themselves. I now guide people into finding their voice and speaking for themselves. Clinical Focus I approach therapy as a collaborative environment. I start where you want to start. You have the expertise in you. I have the modalities and professional experience to help you achieve whatever goal you set out to achieve. The majority of my career has been in outpatient treatment in the county setting. I have worked with all ages though the last few years have been adults and older adults dealing with multiple life transitions. I have worked with individuals who have been affected by but not limited to addiction, recovery, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, identity, career issues, trauma, PTSD, insomnia, and medical issues. My most recent experience has been with those with chronic pain, where I worked virtually with individuals who wanted to taper off medication (collaborating with an MD) and pain coaching. Working with people with chronic pain and letting them know that I believe their pain is real and that it is exactly as they describe it. Working with them to find a new way to live with this chronic condition and realize that it's unfair and sucks but that they can still have a good life even with this pain. Working with this population that has chronic illnesses that some people can see and sometimes can't was eye-opening and rewarding. I was able to have a space where they felt open and honest to share their thoughts, worries, and anger at their circumstances. I was able to give them that free space but also share in their little victories of trying new ways to do things, getting back to their pleasant activities, and being present day to day mentally. I look forward to working with you!

Jocelyne Martinez

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Hi! My name is Jocelyne. I was born in California and raised in Georgia. After completing my bachelor's degree in Psychology at Kennesaw State University, I worked as a registered behavior technician for 3+ years. In 2022, I moved back to California and continued working in early intervention. During my time in these positions, I noticed that the families and individuals I worked with needed more than just behavioral support. This motivated me to make a switch and enroll in a master's degree in Counseling/Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy. In the meantime, I am dedicated to assisting the HMPS team in whatever way I can to support you. In my off time I am either coaching/playing soccer or searching for a new food spot to try. Education: M.S in Psychology, Counseling/Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy, University of Phoenix (in progress) B.S in Psychology, Kennesaw State University, 2020
