Enthusiastic about open-source software, Federico enjoys organizing workshops to make image analysis more accessible. Maria Theiss

Bio Originally a biologist, Maria wants to apply deep learning and statistical data analysis to bioimaging data. She received her PhD from the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), where she developed a computational tool to benchmark super-resolution image analysis methods. Maria has a Bachelor and Master's degree in biology from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, but was sent on a different path after a Master's project in bioimage analysis. Ranit Karmakar

Bio Ranit is a Specialist Postdoc at the Image Analysis Collaboratory (IAC) at the Harvard Medical School. His research interests include classic medical image and data analysis using classical image analysis, machine learning, deep learning and predictive modeling. Prior to joining IAC, Ranit received his PhD in Computer Engineering from Michigan Technological University. His dissertation was focused on developing artificial algorithms for eye banking.
