The "Obama Machiya Stay" is a dispersed traditional townhouse hotel that rents out a single building, renovated from a townhouse that has been accumulated over time along with Obama's history... Facing Wakasa Bay, Obama is the starting point of the Saba Kaido (mackerel road), an ancient highway by which seafood is transported to Kyoto. The townscape, with its traditional townhouses and storehouses, has been selected as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and the food, festivals, and various other aspects of culture are still alive today.
