Dr. Douglas Thomson is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He received the PhD degree from Stanford University, CA, USA, in 1986. His current research interests include biomaterial sensing in microfluidic systems, passive wireless sensors for civil structures monitoring, and scanning probe microscopy. He is the co-inventor of a number of instrumentation systems, including a record-setting capacitance sensor and a passive wireless sensor for the use in monitoring civil structures. He has authored over 100 journal papers. He holds 7 patents as a co-inventor.

Dr. Elham Salimi

Dr. Elham Salimi is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. She received her B.Sc. in electrical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran and M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba. Prior to starting her work as an assistant professor, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manitoba and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training in Ireland. Dr. Salimi's interdisciplinary research focuses on developing microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip systems for medical and biopharmaceutical applications and dielectric modelling of biological systems.

Dr. Greg Bridges

Dr. Greg Bridges is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He obtained his PhD in the area of applied electromagnetics from the University of Manitoba in 1989. He conducts research in the areas of microwave instrumentation and materials measurement techniques, wireless sensor systems, scanning probe microscopy and microfluidic biosensors. He is a principal investigator with the Advanced RF Systems Laboratory, National Microelectronics and Photonics Testing Collaboratory, and an associate editor for the IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwaves in Medicine and Biology.
