DIGITAL TWIN ENGINEERING

Digital twin engineers pay a crucial role in building the relationships and communication lines across silos to create a network that marries the physical and digital worlds throughout manufacturing value chain... As a member of a simulation team performing different roles, I have witnessed an outstanding increase on the expectations being laid upon this function over the years. Numerical tools have been historically used to gain a better understanding of the underlying physical phenomena in a particular process, e.g. IC engine combustion, making it a quasi-post-dictive tool. This means that the our CFD or FEA doesn't provide any significant additional information on anything that we didn't know already. This post-dictive approach is the result of utilizing overly simplified models and/or correlation factors to ensure that the computational results align with the experimental data. It can be used for product development, but it certainly has very well-defined limitations and, most..
