Dr. Kessler is the Misconduct Review Officer at Duke and oversees the investigation of potential research misconduct. She also participates in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) education at Duke and is an organizer and presenter for the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) on RCR and research integrity. Dr. Kessler conducted research and taught classes in the physical and life sciences, and has prior experience in research administration as a funding officer/program manager in the Army Research Office, managing intellectual property assets at NC State and Duke, and as a Chair on the Duke IRB.

Dr. Geeta K. Swamy

Dr. Geeta K. Swamy is a professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Duke University and serves as Associate Vice President for Research for Duke University and the Vice Dean for Scientific Integrity for the School of Medicine. Dr. Swamy works with leaders across campus to provide a consistent University vision for scientific integrity standards and expectations and will drive efforts to ensure the advancement of scientific integrity across Duke University and the School of Medicine. A highly accomplished clinician-scientist, Dr. Swamy specializes in perinatal infection and maternal immunization. She is the principal investigator on numerous grants from the NIH, CDC, and other funding sources and has published more than 100 articles. She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Duke University.

Dr. Monica Lemmon

is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Population Health Sciences. In her role as Associate Dean for Scientific Integrity, Dr. Lemmon works to facilitate a culture of scientific integrity across the School of Medicine. She serves as core faculty within the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy and as associate faculty within the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities, and the History of Medicine. Dr. Lemmon's research program centers on prognostic communication, shared decision making, and the caregiver experience of infant illness. Dr. Lemmon is a fetal and neonatal neurologist and received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Emily Hazlett

Emily Hazlett, Ph.D. joined the DOSI team as a Scientific Integrity Associate in 2022. In 2019, she earned her doctorate in Biomedical Sciences with a Neuroscience concentration from Kent State University in collaboration with the Hearing Research Group at Northeast Ohio Medical University. The lab she worked with leveraged social vocalizations in their work toward understanding how the brain understands the meaning of sounds. Before joining DOSI, Emily spent two years working for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. She conducted research on internal improvements available to North Carolina Prisons as the Social Research Specialist for their Innovation Institute. As a researcher, Emily was interested in understanding systems. As a member of ASIST, the system she aims to understand and work toward improving is the human components of the research process.

Kindra King

Kindra King earned her PhD from the University Program for Genetics and Genomics at Duke University in 2012. After graduating, she worked as a medical writer for clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, developing learning systems that described a wide range of disease states and their associated treatment options. From this work, Kindra became interested in how best to communicate complex science clearly and succinctly to people with different educational backgrounds and points of view. In 2018, Kindra joined the DOSI team where she works to support research integrity by fostering initiatives that improve clear communication and greater transparency in the scientific community.

Kristi Prather

Kristi joined the Duke Office of Scientific Integrity team in 2020. She primarily focuses on the Quality Management Programs with an emphasis on supporting an infrastructure and culture that promotes data integrity throughout the research lifecycle. She received her Masters of Public Health from Boston University in 2008 and accepted a position as a biostatistician at the Duke Clinical Research Institute shortly thereafter. Her experience includes twenty-two years of clinical research in academic and regulated environments with responsibilities ranging from research design and conduct, data management, statistical analysis and quality management.

Lindsey manages Duke's Clinical Quality Management Program, the CTSA local Trial Innovation Center (LTIC), and works with study teams and central administrative offices to provide operational support and guidance related to complex research matters. Prior to working with the Office of Scientific Integrity, Lindsey was a Director in the Duke Office of Clinical Research (DOCR) where she focused on improving the efficiency and transparency of the study start-up process and managed the DOCR Study Initiation team.

Valery Nelson

Valery joined the Duke Office of Scientific Integrity in December of 2021. She currently supports both Quality Management Programs and the ASIST Program. Valery holds a Master's degree in Biology from St. Joseph College. She is a career scientist, having worked at the bench and managed both research and clinical laboratories. Prior to relocating to Durham and joining Duke in 2018 as a lab manager for the SOM, Valery managed a Cytogenetics lab at GeneDx in Gaithersburg MD and also held an adjunct faculty position at Johns Hopkins University.

William L.D. Krenzer

William L.D. Krenzer, Ph.D. is a Scientific Integrity Associate who joined the DOSI team in 2021. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychological Science from DePaul University in 2018, and both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University. Following completion of his studies, William joined Duke as a post-doctoral associate in the Science, Law, and Policy Lab at Duke's Initiative for Science and Society, offering his expertise in electrophysiology. As an experimental psychologist, William's interests have shifted toward improving research integrity within the field of experimental psychology. He has been awarded the Ethical and Responsible Research grant from the National Science Foundation, as a co-Principal Investigator, with the goal of gaining a better understanding of the role of registered reports in the field of experimental psychology. Additionally, he is passionate about the open science framework and the sharing of data in order to create a more honest and collaborative research environment. He is excited to bring these interests to the ASIST team at DOSI and hopes to extend the team's mission to the greater university community.
