Andrea Dunham

Miss Andrea has been dancing since 1981 and has trained with several prestigious studios and companies through California. She started at Colleen's Dance Factory and continued her dance education with Tremaine Dance Studio, and EDGE Performing Arts Center. Miss Andrea spent five years as a Sacramento kings dancer while she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies from Sac State. Andrea also holds a Masters in Early Childhood Education and is working to complete her Special Education teaching credential. In addition to her classes at the studio, Miss Andrea works to stay involved in our community. For many years she directed the Yuba Sutter Fair Scholarship Program, and many of the events associated with the Yuba Sutter Fair. She is currently a special education teacher, as well as mother to four, in addition to her time at the studio! Miss Andrea believes that dance is an amazing way to express yourself. Janelle Brady

Janelle began her dance training at her grandmother's studio, Schell Studios, in Greeley, Colorado in 1960 where she studied acrobatics, ballet and tap. Her training went on to include Ballet Arts Center in Denver, Co., University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Co., Ballet West in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Canyon Concert Ballet Company, where she became a principal dancer in 1978. In 1981, Janelle moved to the remote Big Bend region of West Texas, where for the next 25 years her dancing focused mainly on Mexican Folklorico through the public school system, yoga, and tuition free acrobatic, ballet and tap classes for the children in the 100 mile area. In 1998 she created the Paisano Folklorico Dancers at Big Bend High School where this award-winning group became considered one of the cultural performing attractions in West Texas. Through her remarkable efforts in that remote region, Janelle received an award from the Texas House of Representatives and also several Dance Educator of the Year (DEOY) awards: 2005 Texas K - 12 DEOY Award from TAHPERD; 2006 Southern District K - 12 DEOY Award from AAHPERD, and also the 2006 K - 12 DEOY Award from the National Dance Association. Janie Abshier

Janie's passion for classical ballet was ignited at a very young age as she trained at the former Los Gatos Ballet Company. Growing up she had broad experiences and training in gymnastics, team dance and styles including ballet, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Other experiences as an adult include Israeli folk dance, worship dance, tango and East Coast Swing. Exposure to new ideas, methods, and styles provides a wider platform for inspiring classic dance forms. Since 1999, Janie has been teaching and choreographing at studios locally. Janie's teaching style has a focus on technique and proper body mechanics. In 2019 she received training and has maintained certification in Progressing Ballet Technique. PBT is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon to train dancers in muscle memory to improve core stability, weight placement and alignment. Janie also continues her education of dance physiology in online college level coursework. Not only is Janie a dance teacher, but she is also an accomplished seamstress and costume designer. Samantha Chan

Samantha, also known as Miss Sammy at the dance studio has been teaching dance since 1993. She grew up locally in Yuba City and trained at JDE. Throughout her time at JDE Sammy has assisted in community events such as the Franklin Bulldog Boutique, B street theatre, Red Ribbon Week at local schools, Way Way Way Off Broadway, Dancing with Our Stars, local parades, and the Yuba-Sutter Scholarship Committee. During the summer months you can find Samantha readying her potential group of young girls and women to prepare for the Yuba-Sutter Scholarship Competition. After the Yuba-Sutter Fair winds down Samantha continues to MC events with the YS Fair Royal Court as they attend events around the Yuba-Sutter Area. Besides teaching dance, Samantha followed her first passion for teaching and studied Social Sciences at Washington State University. She started working with Yuba County in 2012 in their moderate-severe special education department and earned her credential during that time which enabled her to start instructing three years ago the K-3rd grade class. In addition to teaching full-time Samantha is choosing to continue her education to earn a Master's in Moderate-Severe Special Education with National University.
