Dr. Michael Dillingham is board certified both in orthopedic surgery and in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He served as director of orthopedic and rehabilitation services for the department of athletics at Stanford from 1992 to 2005. He served as director of orthopedic and rehabilitation services at Santa Clara University from 1984 until 2015. He has more than 37 years of experience treating professional athlete he was team position for the San Francisco 49ers from 1983 until 2007. After 25 years and four Super Bowls with the 49ers, he became the team physician for the San Francisco Giants from 2010 until 2016 and served through three World Series. Prior to that he had been a consultant for the San Francisco Giants. He is past president of the NFL Physician Society. He has run a sports medicine fellowship both at Stanford and in his private practice and has been active in publishing and lecturing through the years. His experience with his regular busy practice and with high level athletes has exposed the harm of substance abuse at every level of society. He has always focused on the rehabilitation side of things physically and emotionally with his patients.
