More than 10 years ago, I decided to work in the energy industry. I believed then, as I do now, that the sector is fascinating because energy is so fundamental to human life. It is also beset by huge challenges, from climate change to digitalisation, the emergence of new fuel sources (light tight oil, renewables, natural gas) and technologies (fracking, electric vehicles)...
I started my career in the carbon market and, when the initiative fizzled in 2009, I moved over to report on the electricity sector and then on one of the world's dirtiest and most secretive industries: oil. I believe that a good understanding of fossil fuels is helpful to solving future energy challenges.
