RABIA KARAKAYA POLAT

I am a professor of politics at the Department of International Relations at Işık University in Istanbul. I am also a visiting professor at the Institute of Advanced Study at the University of Warwick (2023-2024). Previously, I was an international visiting fellow at the Center for Ideology and Discourse Analysis at the University of Essex (2017-2018). I completed my PhD at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom, focusing on the implications of the Internet on political participation at the local level. Since my PhD studies, my research has focused on three streams: political implications of technology (particularly the Internet), critical security studies and more recently critical discourse analysis. My research has been funded by Işık University Research Fund, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tubitak) and the British Academy.
