Dr. Todd Inouye is an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. He received his PhD and Executive MBA in Business Administration, a BA in Psychology and certificates in International Management and Ethnic Studies, from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and a Master of Science in Sport Management from Niagara University. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of competitive context and firm-level strategy for small and medium-sized enterprises. Dr. Inouye also engages in the scholarship of teaching and learning within the management discipline as a secondary research stream. His research has appeared in Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal, Global Strategy Journal and peer-reviewed proceedings of the Hawaiʻi International Conference on System Sciences and the Association of Japanese Business Studies. Being the founder and owner of multiple businesses, Dr. Inouye has extensive personal knowledge of small business management practices. As a strategic management professional, Dr. Inouye chooses not specialize in any one facet of management, instead he takes a broad perspective which integrates all relevant management functions. This helps to find underlying synergies across the different disciplines. He prides himself in providing data-driven recommendations for his clients and strives to produce tangible value in every project, no matter how small or large it may be.
