Our mission is to promote the practice of law in our region by supporting and upholding our members, encouraging a sense of belonging and of being part of a community, offering a year-round programme of legal training, networking and social events, and championing access to justice for all, using our collective voice... Over 130 years later, we continue to promote the interests of the profession throughout Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire and to represent its members, supporting integrity and leadership, and providing a strong focus for lawyers in our local area... Amongst other achievements, we promoted the introduction of some of the first voluntary Duty Solicitor Schemes (Reading and Banbury) in the late 1970s - long before the introduction of the statutory scheme. We continue to be a staunch supporter and defender of the Legal Aid scheme.
