Adam Fryer

Job Titles:
  • Associate Director of Fisheries
Adam is Fishtek's Associate Director of Fisheries and is responsible for project management, business development and the delivery of technical fisheries projects. He has a master's with distinction in Fisheries Science and over 10 years consultancy experience. He is experienced in fisheries impact assessments of hydropower schemes, stakeholder management, approvals and consenting, fish passage feasibility studies, fish pass design and fisheries monitoring for national and international clients.

Alex Partridge

Alex has an HNC in Civil Engineering from Exeter College and studied Conservation at Bicton College. He has a wealth of experience in the engineering sector having worked as a Land Surveyor and Civils Consultant over the past decade and a half. During this time Alex has specialised in the visualisation of concepts and their detailed technical design over a broad spectrum of software including PDS, WinDES and AutoCAD. He is responsible for the overseeing of CAD standards at Fishtek. Alex is passionate about combining his interest in engineering with his love for the natural world.

Bethany Worley

Job Titles:
  • Environmental Scientist
Bethany is an Environmental Scientist at Fishtek and specializes in Habitat Restoration (including Natural Flood Management [NFM]) and Geomorphology, with five years of experience working on rivers and in the environmental sector. Since completing her PhD at Loughborough University, she has continued to develop her expertise, delivering catchment scale NFM and Ecological Assessments.

Chris Elliott

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer
Chris is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 15 years experience in water related engineering - hydroelectric development, water screening, fish passes and similar structures. Chris' work with Fishtek is alongside operating a handful of hydro-electric systems in South-West England which he has developed over the last decade. He has authored a technical manual on hydro-electric development and he has managed a number of award-winning engineering projects including 3 which have won regional Institute of Civil Engineers awards for outstanding examples of a civil engineering project.

Derrick Grenardo

A Mechanical professional having spent 26 years with Schlumberger Oilfield Services working around the globe on a variety of different projects within the oil & gas land seismic exploration sector. Served with the British Forces (Army) Soldier/ REME B-Mechanic Tracked trained

Hannah Wilkes

CIMA, Dip, MA For over 10 years Hannah has worked predominantly in office, bookkeeping and accounts roles, including Accounts Supervising and Management Accounting. Hannah is the Finance Manager at Fishtek

Iain Stewart-Russon

Iain has a PhD from Southampton University concerning the response of fish to barriers to migration and screens. Since completing his PhD in 2011 Iain has been working at specialist fisheries engineering and aquatic science consultancies. In addition to fish and eel passage assessments and design, he undertakes screening assessments to protect fish and eels at water offtakes.

Jay Rana

Jay has a degree in civil engineering with over 10 years' experience covering a wide range of projects both nationally and internationally. His expertise in environmental engineering include the appraisal, detailed design and construction of fish and eel pass solutions for a wide variety of barriers. He also has extensive experience in the design and build of fisheries monitoring facilities and the design and development of the Tidal Gate Damper.

Jemma Bircham

For over 10 years Jemma has worked in office, bookkeeping and accounts roles, including Accounts Supervisor and as Client Bookkeeper in an Accountancy Practice. Jemma is the Office Manager and Bookkeeper at Fishtek.

Joanna Czyrw

HND, BSc, BEng Joanna is a conscientious and determined Engineer with degrees in Architecture, Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering. Joanna has over 10 years' experience in the engineering design industry, and has worked in nearly every department, starting as a CAD technician, through Civil Engineering roles, to the current Structural Engineer role. She is experienced in structural design of retaining structures, water-retaining structures, pumping stations and various forms of building structures.

Martin Giblin

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers
Martin is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Graduating from the University of Exeter in 2013 with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, he has since worked in a variety of sectors, from highways and rail bridges to the environmental sector. As Senior Engineer, Martin is responsible for the design of fish passes at Fishtek, with extensive experience progressing challenging projects from concept through to construction. Martin was recently part of the project team that won the ‘Resilience Award' at the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards for the fish pass at Buckfast Abbey.

Matt Turley

Matt has over 8 years of experience working in freshwater environments, including applied research focussing on biological monitoring, water quality,

Matthew Penny

Matt has a background in practical fisheries science and has a BSc in Aquaculture and Fisheries Management (first class honours). At Fishtek Matt assists with the workshop fabrication and on-site installation of new fish and eel passes.

Michael MacDonnell

BEng, BA A mechanical engineer with extensive experience across the water, marine and railway industries. When not working with water, Michael can usually be found on it.

Mike Davies

MEng(Hons), CEng, MICE Mike is an experienced civil and structural Engineer, holding chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has worked in a range of sectors including water, infrastructure and defence and within design and contracting organisations. Since joining Fishtek he has been involved in the design and development of a number of fish and eel schemes encompassing a wide range of passage solutions such as vertical slot passes, rock ramps, larinier passes and low-cost baffles. As Principal Engineer his responsibilities encompass the whole project life cycle as well as client interface, staff mentoring and management.

Paul Gratton

Job Titles:
  • Scientist
Paul is an experienced fisheries scientist and has a wealth of experience in fish pass design, fisheries impact assessments and the interaction between fish and hydropower.

Sam Rebeiro

Job Titles:
  • Environmental Scientist
Sam is an Environmental Scientist at Fishtek and specialises in Species and Habitat Restoration, Water Quality and GIS. Sam has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and an MSc in Environmental Consultancy from the University of Plymouth, his MSc dissertation concerned Modelling Water Quality in Urbanised Streams and the Associated Impact on Habitats and Species. At Fishtek, Sam works on a variety of projects performing tasks such as Habitat Assessments, Water Quality Monitoring and Fish Passage Options Assessments. Sam is currently pursuing Chartership with the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and is looking forward to becoming a recognised professional within his field.

Stuart Pudwell

Having recently graduated with a 1 st Class degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology from the University of Exeter, Stuart is a new addition to the fisheries science team at Fishtek. In addition to his Exeter degree, Stuart spent a year at the University of Tasmania, studying Marine and Antarctic Science to further his knowledge and fieldwork experience in fisheries science.

Toby Coe

Job Titles:
  • Joint Managing Director
A fisheries biologist by training, Toby is joint Managing Director of Fishtek (with Pete Kibel) and has over 15 years' experience in the industry. He is responsible for the day to day running of the company, the management of the team and also provides high-level input into larger and more complex projects. He has significant experience in fish pass design, the interaction between fisheries and hydropower and assessments of fish migration.

Tristan King

Tristan is responsible for managing and delivering Fishtek's fabricated installations. Having completed his ‘Mechanical Maintenance and Diagnostics' apprenticeship with accolades in 2005 within the heavy engineering industry at a steel mill in New Zealand, he gained extensive experience as a Fitter/Welder/Machinist. A tradesman on-site and on the tools. He then moved into the Engineering office environment becoming a mechanical design draftsman, utilizing a range of 3D CAD software, namely Solid Edge and has enjoyed delivering many fantastic projects over the years.
