From the first gentle splash to confident swimmer, Shirley Swimming Pool provides an excellent environment to learn to swim. Our unique swim centre provides a class for every age and ability, gently encouraging progression through the learning stages... Learning to swim at Shirley Pool is unique. The warm, purpose built pools offer the perfect learning environment. Children progress as rapidly as they are able, moving to the next level as soon as they are ready; skills and awards are constantly assessed and distance awards up to 100m tested every 10 weeks. Longer distance awards are attempted at special Saturday sessions... Privately owned, public swimming pool built in 1974 as a dedicated teaching centre, the site offers lessons for every age and ability from 6 weeks old.
