E.ON UK - Key Persons

Anthony Ainsworth

Job Titles:
  • Chief Operating Officer, Industrial and Commercial
The energy revolution is underway. My role as COO of our Industrial and Commercial business, which I took on in June 2021, is to shape a future where businesses use less, and what is used comes from lower carbon and renewable sources. We're building lasting relationships with our customers and designing smarter, more sustainable and personalised energy solutions that help them to reduce their carbon footprint and limit their environmental impact. I joined E.ON in 2012 as B2B Director, and then held a variety of roles including E.ON UK Marketing Director, E.ON's Global Chief Marketing Officer and of interim Chief Digital Officer. I was CEO of E.ON's global B2B solutions business before returning to the UK. I've worked internationally both with E.ON and in other organisations living and working in Bahamas and New Jersey and held board roles in Japan, Hong Kong and China. I have an MBA at Cranfield School of Management where I specialised in Entrepreneurship and Business Growth.

We want our customers to have the best possible, personalised, experience we can offer. I believe that the best way to achieve this is to create an environment where our people feel valued, included and empowered to improve our customers' lives. Whether it's helping to drive the smart revolution by recruiting and training Smart Meter Technicians, developing the industry's future pioneers through our graduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes, or encouraging everyone to reach their full potential through our inclusive talent programme - I'm proud of the opportunities we offer our people. After spending over 20 years in HR and transformation roles for major international organisations, I joined E.ON in 2014 and undertook a number of roles before being appointed Chief People Officer for our UK business at the start of 2018.

I'm a passionate believer that by building a sustainable business on a strong financial footing, we can connect everyone to renewable energy and sustainable solutions that are right for them. I've been CFO for E.ON UK since July 2018, and before this was a member of the Board of the E.ON German Sales business. I've had a number of senior finance roles and gained broad experience in this field. I've been involved in most areas of finance from accounting through purchasing, controlling and strategy, to mergers and acquisitions. Digital technology is fundamental to leading the energy transition and our ability to offer every customer an energy solution that's right for them. I lead the digital transformation for E.ON UK, where I'm focused on understanding our customers' needs and turning those needs into technology services and sustainable solutions for our customers' homes and businesses. As a black female leader, creating an inclusive workplace and improving our diversity is professionally and personally important to me. It's the right thing to do. We also know that diverse businesses are more connected to and reflective of their customers, they're more sustainable and achieve greater commercial success. I'm proud to be the board sponsor of Fast Forward, our talent network, which launched in March 2021 to support women's career progression and development. Throughout my 20 years' experience in all areas of IT and business transformation I've led transformational changes, supporting sustainable growth and multimillion cost efficiencies, to transforming legacy technology estates, enabling organisations to reduce costs and effectively compete in the market.

Michael Lewis - CEO

Job Titles:
  • Chief Executive Officer
  • Our CEO
In order to achieve our ambition to be carbon neutral by 2040 and contribute to a smart, sustainable and personalised energy world, we need strong leadership. Michael Lewis has worked in the energy industry for more than 25 years and took over as E.ON CEO in 2017. Climate change is the single most important issue we need to solve as a global community. Our vision for the future of energy is ambitious. We're driving the change to net zero by decarbonising our customers' lives through sustainable and personalised solutions such as transport, heating, electric vehicles, and heat pumps. Sustainability has been important to me throughout my career. I began work in the energy industry as an environmental specialist in 1995 at Powergen. I moved into renewable energy in E.ON Climate and Renewables as MD for Europe in 2007, then becoming COO in 2012 where I was responsible for global wind power development, construction and operations. I'm a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE). Since joining as CEO of E.ON UK in 2017, I've led the transformation of our company to respond to the challenges in the energy market and to the climate change crisis. Energy is one of the few industries where you can be rewarded with making a significant difference to people's lives and to the sustainability of our planet, and I'm proud to be helping our customers and communities to get to net zero.

Ramona Vlasiu

Job Titles:
  • Chief Operating Officer, E.on Next
Changing our habits when it comes to energy can sometimes feel like we're fighting our way to a sustainable future. That's why I'm proud to be part of helping our customers to navigate the energy shift that is upon us. I joined the UK board of management in January 2022, leading the new E.ON Next business where we're focused on providing sustainable energy and making a difference. Having started my career as a lawyer in Romania, I was honoured to be one of the youngest women to be appointed in an executive role in 2006. After various roles within the EON Romanian group, I moved to E.ON UK in 2014 holding an expat contract in the first instance, wanting to expand my knowledge, experience and cultural diversity across the EON Group. And I can say that truly happened - not only I have fully enjoyed my time in EON UK, I now live in the UK with my husband and two children. With a degree in law, I completed my studies through graduating an Executive MBA, with Distinction at The University of Sheffield, also obtaining an Executive Degree in Strategic Management and Leadership from Chartered Management Institute in London.

Sarah Farmer

Job Titles:
  • Director of Residential Solutions
Joining E.ON in 2007 as a graduate chemist I was hungry to learn and very lucky to be supported by phenomenal female engineering leaders who really showed me the way to build my career - I felt they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and show me the ropes. I try to pay that forward now; I have a diverse range of mentees and I'm keen to help them grow - creating opportunities to use their initiative and build their skills . I believe in people being able to be themselves at work, from the hours they work to the way they communicate, there is a value in bringing something different to the table. I started out at E.ON within the engineering consultancy business, working with low carbon technologies before taking on an international retail role. After taking maternity leave I returned to a transformational role, building out the Business & Community Solutions part of the business - which is where I caught the bug for customer service. Now in my current role as Director of Residential Solutions, I'm able to bring together all my experience, from my technical knowledge to transformation and my newfound passion for customer experience. We're going through a transformation at the moment, in the way we use energy and our customers are very switched onto this. I feel privileged to lead the part of the business that does this for our customers.

Scott Somerville

Job Titles:
  • Head of UK Brand and Marketing
My career at E.ON began over a decade ago, when I joined the company as a Press Officer. Since then I've advanced through various PR and marketing roles to now head up the UK Brand and Marketing function. Highlighting the small bits of action we can all take to make a big difference to improve society is extremely important to me. Over the time I've spent in my current role we've delivered campaigns to clear the air, change the weather and take action for climate that prove by being creative to get people interested in sustainability we can have positive impact through the work we do. I believe that one of the main ways we can make our work connect with people is by involving and showcasing all of the different backgrounds and experiences that we as individuals bring to the table. Ultimately that's about us delivering marketing campaigns that celebrate all the different people, cultures and backgrounds that make modern-life so brilliant, as well as making sure that behind the camera we are providing opportunities and ensuring equity for people whatever their path and heritage.

Vijay Tank

I first joined E.ON in 2005 as part of a commercial team. In the years since, I've worked across a few areas in leadership roles. In my current directorship I'm leading a transformation of UK Supply Chain aimed to deliver incremental strategic value and reset team culture to orientate to a customer and commercial agenda.
