Cricket had been played at Brocklesby Park since the mid-1800s, the club having it's origins in inter-hunt cricket for the toffs and the village clubs of Kirmington and Brocklesby for the rest. The original ground was near the railway station but when the 3rd Earl of Yarborough established the ground on the estate in 1865, all subsiquent matches seemed to have moved to the parkland.
