The Energy Systems and Energy Storage (ESES) lab is part of the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) at Loughborough University and we are an interdisciplinary group who work in several energy-related areas. These include the development of novel thermomechanical energy storage technologies like Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage (ACAES), whole systems energy modelling for efficiently planning the transition to a highly decarbonised energy system in the UK and data analytics for smart energy systems. As part of the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, all of our work has a firm grounding in mechanical engineering. We are located in the Garendon Wing (MBG building) of Holywell Park (pictured above)... Our overarching aim is to improve the sustainability of global energy systems through the development of large-scale low cost energy storage technologies, the identification of cost-effective energy efficiency improvements and the..
