WOO, JI YEON

I pursue aestheticism of color in great depth through repetitive coloring process by using traditional Korean paper porridge handmade from mulberry trees(Hanjijuk), which is one of Korean traditional materials. This methodological pursuit would be expression of my fundamental cast of mind latent internally, and I wish to reflect Korean traditional features modernistically. My work(of art) has tactile characteristics, maximizing the material property that is different from the minimal painting with flat and simple visual feature... The first reason I chose Hanjijuk is because it can be expressed stereoscopically and has distinctive materiality. It also has corporeal purity and veracity characterized from durability, depth, simplicity, and absorbency inhaling everything. Furthermore, Hanjijuk is a material of ecofriendly analogue.
