Berry Home Centers, Inc. has its roots in a family business founded in 1939 by Chilhowie entrepreneur Fount W. Berry. At that time, F.W. Berry Produce Co. bought and sold produce, scrap metal, herbs and other goods from local farmers and traders. In the 1950s the Berry family expanded with a dry goods and grocery store in the same block of Main Street where Berry Home Centers operates today. Following Mr. Berry's death in 1968, Berry Enterprises, Inc. was founded by his daughter and two sons who continued to operate Berry Iron and Metal Company (formerly F.W. Berry and Sons Produce) and began developing residential subdivisions in Chilhowie, Seven Mile Ford, and Marion, Virginia...
