Charles Hale is the SAGE Sara Miller McCune Dean of Social Sciences as well as a professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Department of Global Studies. He is a leading social science scholar whose research bridges multiple disciplines, with a focus on race and ethnicity, racism, social movements and identity politics among Black and indigenous peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is highly regarded for his innovations in collaborative approaches, which characterize not only his research and teaching, but his administrative leadership as well. Hale, who previously taught at the University of Texas, Austin, is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship for research and teaching in Oaxaca, Mexico. He earned his B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University, and his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Stanford University.

Daina Ramey Berry is Michael Douglas Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts at UC Santa Barbara. Dr. Berry is an historian, a "scholar of the enslaved," and a specialist on gender and slavery as well as Black women's history in the United States. She is the award-winning author/editor of six books. Her most recent publication, A Black Women's History of the United States, co-authored with Kali Nicole Gross, is an empowering testament of Black women's ability to build communities in the face of oppression, and their continued resistance to systemic racism and sexism. Professor Berry completed her BA, MA, and PhD in African American Studies and U.S. History at the University of California Los Angeles.

Michael Miller is the AVC for Undergraduate Education. He is also a professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. He studies the psychological and neural processes underlying human memory and decision-making.. Miller is the vice director of the Sage Center for the Study of the Mind and editor of The Year in Cognitive Neuroscience, an annual review published by the New York Academy of Sciences. He received his B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Dartmouth College.

Shelly Gable is the interim dean of Mathematical, Life, and Physical Sciences. She received a BA from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Arts from the College of William & Mary, both in psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the University of Rochester. She began her career at UCLA, where she co-founded the Interdisciplinary Relationship Science Program. Dr. Gable's research focuses on motivation, close relationships, and positive emotions. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Positive Psychology Network. She is a recipient of the Early Career Award from the Close Relationships Group of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).
