Dr. Daphne Cheng received her Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia and Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in Oregon. She was the recipient of the 2016 College of Optometrists in Vision Development Excellence in Vision Therapy Award for her clinical skills in diagnosing and treating patients with strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye), eye teaming deficiencies, vision-related learning problems and post-trauma/concussion vision syndrome. Daphne was also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Society for her academic excellence.
Her optometric experiences include working at the US Air Force eye clinic in Hawaii and the Veterans Affair hospital in California treating patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration and other eye diseases. Daphne has also worked in private practices in Seattle and Portland specializing in dry eye treatment and vision therapy. In addition, she has provided free eye exams to patients in rural areas of Costa Rica.
Davinder was born and raised in Oliver, BC. His interest in health care began early on in his undergraduate degree at UBC Okanagan. Before beginning his pursuit of Optometry, he job shadowed several health care professions where he was strongly drawn to becoming an Optometrist. Davinder obtained his Doctor of Optometry from Salus University in 2015 with distinction of clinical and high academic honors. Davinder has practiced Optometry throughout BC since he graduated and has established his roots in the lower mainland and north west.
Davinder brings a well-rounded approach as he is very proficient in ocular disease, surgical co-management, contact lenses, binocular vision and neuro-ophthalmology, and pediatrics. At Salus University, their program includes an extra clinical rotation relative to most Optometry schools in which Davinder spent 3 months in the Neuro-ophthalmology department at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. This clinical rotation focused heavily on neuro-imaging, lab diagnostics,binocular vision work ups, and handling a variety of sight and life threatening neuro-ophthalmic cases. Davinder had the pleasure of working at a specialty contact lens practice in California that focused primarily on fitting specialty lenses for patients with Keratconus and other corneal disorders. He values the knowledge he gained there and carries it with him to this day as he enjoys maximizing his patient's visual ability.
Davinder currently practices in Port Coquitlam, Abbotsford, and Prince Rupert. During his spare time, Davinder enjoys spending his time hiking, staying active and exploring the world with his wife. Davinder is also a published author in the wine industry as he serves as a Wine Biochemistry consultant in the Okanagan's thriving wine industry.
After spending his early childhood in India, Dr. Birk immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 6. He spent the majority of his adolescence in Abbotsford, BC, which led him to pursue his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry at the University of the Fraser Valley. He then decided to pursue a career in optometry and completed his
doctorate at the University of Waterloo in 2021. Dr. Birk strives to provide excellent care to patients of all ages. For the last year, Dr. Birk has been practicing in the lower mainland in his hometown of Abbotsford but was enticed to move to Prince Rupert since he enjoyed his time so much interning during optometry school in a rural clinic setting in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
Born and raised in Ontario, Dr. Marie Sarabusky completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology at Western University. She went on to pursue graduate studies
at Western University where she completed a Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology. Drawn to the field of optometry because of her mother's personal experience with vision loss, Dr. Sarabusky then went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo graduating with honours. One of the highlights of her time as a student was travelling to Haiti to provide eye care to over 1300 patients in need.
