PAARL GOLF CLUB

Paarl golf Club is rich in history and counts as one of the oldest golf clubs in South Africa. Royal Cape golf club is the oldest club in South Africa established in 1886. Interesting fact is that golf only started in the United States of America a year later in 1887! Paarl Golf Club was established in 1908 and started off with a nine-hole "links" type of course next to the Berg River in the "middle" of the current town known as Sanddrift. This design was done by the well-known golf architect Bob Grimsdell. The course became too small for the demand and was eventually shifted to Suider-Paarl (the current location) in 1955 where an 18-hole course was constructed again along the banks of the Berg River... With the establishment of the Boschenmeer Golf Estate in 1997 the Paarl Golf Club was incorporated in the planning and a further nine holes were constructed on the Boschenmeer side.
