This is a project Tropical Taurus continues to be involved in as one of our many initiatives to improve hybrid vigour and economic viability of the northern beef industry... 'Calves on the ground' is the most important profit driver for northern Australian commercial producers and of these complex traits, our focus is on fertility. Through our cattle operating partnerships, we are working with Central Queensland University and The University of Queensland to conduct genomic analysis in an endeavour to identify high fertility genes in tropical cattle... We are focused on the identification of the complex trait for fertility firstly in Bos Taurus tropically adapted composites and then Bos Indicius to ultimately ascertain the most advantageous pairing of these genomes for optimised fertility rates
