Since the 1990s, Africanized bees, nicknamed "killer bees," have been interbreeding with feral European honey bees in the Southwestern United States, Tennessee and South Florida causing experts to believe that all feral honey bee colonies in the US have become Africanized. Honey Bees are a social insect and populate in colonies. These colonies have a three-tier caste system which consists of: the queen bee that is responsible for producing eggs; male drones that mate with the queen; and female worker bees that don't reproduce. Their wax hives are perennial and can harbor up to 80,000 bees simultaneously. They stay most active in summer months; during winter, bees gather within the hive and self-regulate the internal temperature to keep warm. Honey Bees are greatly depended upon in agriculture for pollination and they account for 80% of all insect pollination.

Truly Nolen was founded by Truly Wheatfield Nolen in Miami, Florida in 1938 during the Great Depression. His son, Truly David Nolen, joined forces with him to expand and improve the pest control business after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Entomology.
Third generation Scott Nolen joined the company as President, and a dynasty was born. Scott's background in research and development led to new natural techniques and innovations in pest control services.
Our founder, Truly David Nolen, held the belief that commercial customers want a thorough, reliable, and convenient service performed by someone they know and trust. Truly realized these services must be done in an environmentally conscious manner. Our customers do not want bugs, nor the irresponsible use of pesticides, to negatively impact their business.

National Insect Day Truly Nolen started National Insect Day on Truly's birthday to celebrate our love and fascination of insects. We host our Good Bug Bad Bug classes, have live insects on display, host insect-themed crafts and do a live lady bug release.
Truly Spooktacular We recognize no child wants to be in the hospital during Halloween season and a colorful distraction may be just what the patient - and their family - needs. We partner with children hospitals, Ronald McDonald houses and similar destinations across the country bringing craft pumpkins, decorating kits and other fun activities to children getting special care at Halloween.
