Since 1998 he established his own consulting company and has been working as a principal consultant in business management and private sector development. Specifically, his track records indicated his competence in business management training, advisory services around export competitiveness, supply chain management, value chain development, entrepreneurship development, and business strategies. Moreover, he is a well-reputed training manual developer and trainer with adult training methodology. Afework is networked with strong international associations such as ValueLinks International and CEFE International. He is currently the president of the Ethiopian Business Advisory Service Providers Association (EBASPA).
