Six generations ago in the 1840s, my great, great, great, grandfather came to Texas with the United States army under General (later President) Zachry Taylor and soon began surveying land grants for the soldiers and heroes of Texas' independence and protection. His journals include stories of packs of a Grey Wolf, aptly enough named the Texas Wolf. Classified as extinct in the 1960s, the Texas Grey Wolf is being spotted once again in Texas, as a demonstration of the indominable Spirit of Texas.
