Aminah is a licensed social work professional and licensed clinical substance abuse counselor with over 40 years of experience in the, mental health and human services field providing services to children, families, couples and adults struggling with life's many obstacles. She graduated with her Bachelor in Communication studies from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Her professional career began with mentoring college student with cultural transition issues, then with children in Philadelphia working as a supervisor in a group home, then moving on to residential treatment for youth. She then transitioned to working with children in foster care and their children. Aminah's career then moved to New Jersey after her relocation working with youth and their families with addiction and behavioral problems. At this time her focus with addictions counseling for youth and adults in outpatient and inpatient settings Aminah then began providing services in a prison-based treatment program as a counselor and then promoted to unit director. It was during this time, she achieved her CADC, Judiciary certification, and LCADC in NJ. Her career in New Jersey ended in the Judiciary system with TASC and Drug court.
