Alun Evans

Alun has been working with the Care Society for over 10 years as a member of the Support Team. He is now the Support Team Manager for the North of Ceredigion, based in Aberystwyth. Before joining this line of work he was building bike trails and renovating properties! Although he has escaped on a couple of occasions, for the most part he grew up and lived in and around Aberystwyth. For Alun it's the perfect place, with the coast and the hills, to enjoy his outdoor interests such as kayaking, biking and walking

Anthony Hearn - Chairman

Currently Director of Housing and Communities for Merthyr Valley Homes, Anthony has worked and volunteered in housing, supported housing, and youth and community development organisations for over 30 years. He is passionate about working with people and communities to help them thrive and prosper, a big supporter of foundational economies and transformative power of the social economy, and a huge advocate for equality and social justice.

Bridget Campbell

Bridget started work for the Care Society in 2006 helping families to manage and maintain their tenancies. She became the family support co-ordinator and has recently completed her level 5 diploma in health and social care. Based in Cardigan, Bridget manages the support and community outreach team in the South of Ceredigion, supporting single people, families, homeless and disabled people as well as overseeing a young persons project in Cardigan. She also manages the Care Society Bespoke packages of care in South Ceredigion. Bridget gets a huge sense of pride when she carries out a service user review and sees how much they have achieved with the help of the Care Society help and support.

Dawn Toland

Dawn moved to Aberystwyth as a student and after falling in love with the town and its people made her home here. She first became involved with the Care Society in 2015 when she took over the management of their charity shop. One of her first jobs when she joined was to help set up a new Shop Mobility scheme and since then she has been responsible for running both the shop and the shop mobility service in Chalybeate Street. Dawn enjoys the varied nature of her job and loves seeing the different donations that come through the door and working with her great team of volunteers.

Gary Taverner

Gary joined the Care Society in 2019 and is the Temporary Accommodations Manager as well as managing our Housing First for Youth Project - Yr Albion. Gary has 40 years of experience in Youth and Young Adults projects, primarily within the U.K Third Sector and International Charities. He has a background in Technical and Mechanical Engineering, Training, Prison work, Leadership and Management, as well as pioneering Humanitarian and Development projects across 3 Continents. Having lived in or worked in over 50 Countries, Gary has now put roots down in Ceredigion and in his free time enjoys DIY, roaming around the hills and coast with his dog, and sampling as much local ice cream as possible.

Guy Evans

Before joining The Care Society in 2000 Guy had experience working within the Private Sector and working within Ceredigion County Council's Homeless Department. Guy has been Executive Director of The Care Society since 2010. Guy is a fluent Welsh speaker with over 20 years of experience in Housing and Support. Guy holds an MSc in Management (Social enterprise innovation and creativity) and is a trustee of Tir Coed.

Jeremy Brown

Jeremy is a senior manager within the Care Society with over 12 years' experience of managing the tenancy support team, the night shelter and temporary accommodation projects and youth homeless projects. Brought up in Aberystwyth, he studied Law at Sheffield University, followed by Guildford College of Law before returning ‘temporarily' to Aberystwyth and managing a university bookshop for over 20 years! Jeremy holds a Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care Management & Leadership and has extensive business experience in the private sector. When not doing this he is happiest getting out and about in the countryside climbing mountains.

John Rees

Chair of the Audit and Performance Committee . A Chartered Certified Accountant with over 14 years experience from a variety of roles including 7 within the Social Housing Sector. Currently Head of Finance at Plymouth Community Homes. Links to the local community of Ceredigion and learning to speak Welsh.

Margaret Gallagher

Margaret is an Australian who has lived in the UK for 26 years, 18 of them in Ceredigion. She has a BSc and MA in Psychology from the University of Sydney. In both Australia and the UK she worked in social care and health for over 20 years, in both the statutory and voluntary sectors, developing and delivering services, both housing-related and direct support, for adults and for families, working at all levels from strategic and managerial to operational and front-line service delivery. She was the original Supporting People Manager for Ceredigion County Council and facilitated the set up of the initiative in the county. After her retirement she undertook a number of courses in visual arts, as well as alternative therapies, and has just completed an MArts in Ancient Civilisations at UWTSD Lampeter. She is passionate about learning and has an extensive and constantly expanding library. Now she has completed her formal studies, she is looking forward to bringing her experience and enthusiasm into her role as an independent board member for the Care Society and trustee at Jig-So Children's Centre in Cardigan.

Stephen Cripps

Former Chairman and current Vice-Chairman of Tai Ceredigion • Former local government Chief Officer with 30 years experience including in Housing Management • Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing • Former Independent member (and Vice-Chairman) of Ceredigion County Council's Ethics and Standards Committee • Former Board Member of Community Housing Cymru • Board co-optee since March 2016 • Aims to assist Tai Ceredigion in the provision of decent, affordable, and well-managed housing which is essential for good health, supports education and employment, and helps to build and support strong local communities. Committed to working in partnership with other Agencies for the benefit of local communities.
