ALEX WEECH

I'm Alex. I grew up in central New Hampshire and went to college at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. I got my BS and MS in the Atmospheric Sciences and did my master's thesis on the interannual climate variability in the atmosphere above the Pacific Ocean. While in Salt Lake, I enjoyed the hiking trails in the Wasatch and Uinta mountains, bicycling paths in the city, and close access to the intermountain west's many national parks and preserves... During my undergraduate time I volunteered at the department's undergraduate weather forecasting group and in sophomore year became the lead forecaster. That role included responsibility over the quality of the other forecasters' work as well as being in charge of teaching newcomers (and old timers) in the group. I led twice-weekly forecast discussions in which we talked about the current goings-on of the weather locally and the forecast challenges for foreseeable future.
