We're a team of ten students from the University of Sheffield taking part in iGEM 2016. iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is an international synthetic biology competition that takes place in Boston every year. Over 300 Universities from across the globe participate in this competition after having spent the summer working on a project of their choice. There are different tracks such as ‘Health and Medicine', ‘Environment', ‘Energy', ‘Manufacturing' and ‘New Application'. Synthetic biology involves the use of standard parts/components called "bio-bricks" and these are provided by iGEM. Teams must use these parts in their project...
