With 40+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Brett began his career as a production operator and worked his way up to a foreman, superintendent, and project manager. Centred in the Western Sedimentary Basin and - since 2010 - exclusively in the BC Peace Region, he has successfully managed both pipeline and facility projects ranging up to $40M in value.

Carmen LaFrance

Starting her career in the Natural Resource Sector as a labourer in 1997, Carmen brings a people-first, hands-on approach to her role as an operations manager. Combining her 23 years of industry experience with her reputation and connections in the local workforce, she can easily identify the needs and skills required with an immediate line to the right resources. Carmen leads with honesty, integrity, and respect while supporting our office, field, and clients. As a community-driven facilitator, she actively engages and respects Indigenous People, their incredible history, and the unique culture that each community possesses.

Darryl MacDonald - President

For over 26 years, Darryl has dedicated his focus to the Oil and Gas Industry in North East BC. His earlier career would be credited to Pipeline & Facility Labor crafts, successfully progressing into a journeyman welder and President of his own company BroMac Welding Ltd. Darryl's dedication to efficiency and constructability earned him an opportunity in upper management with a small growing company in Fort St. John. As the General Manager in a cyclical industry, the company grew from 120 employees to an excess of 500 during his tenure with a diverse list of clientele. Partnering with longtime friend Tim Smith, they founded SureLine Projects with a philosophy centred upon building relationships and empowering a family-oriented environment that connects employees, clients, and the community. Darryl's loyalty and fair managing style enhance SureLine's team-first atmosphere, consistently crediting the successes of our staff and enabling our employees to evolve the business and themselves.

Leon Fraser

With 15+ years of pipeline industry experience, Leon has worked as a Labourer, Equipment Operator, Phase Foreman, Project Foreman, and Site Superintendent. Working alongside our core team since 2008, he is a key part of our organization and exemplifies our commitment to say what we mean and do what we say. As a charismatic leader with a dynamic approach focused on relationships and innovative solutions, Leon meets and exceeds client expectations in challenging environments. He has built a loyal execution team who support his projects with excellence to deliver high quality while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Tim Smith

  • V.P. Operations
Being raised on a North Peace farm and attending a rural school, Tim has developed a deep appreciation for the people, land, and resources in our area. Working in the Oil and Gas Industry since the age of 17, he joins our team with a diverse background in construction and maintenance as well as an analytical, ready-to-learn mindset. In his 35 years in the industry, Tim has successfully managed his own welding business, worked as both a pipeline and facility superintendent, and taken on the role of both project manager and general manager for a company in Fort St. John. He enjoys building new relationships while cultivating old ones with colleagues, clients, and local stakeholders. Combining his solutions-oriented approach with his focus on building trust and long-term stability through delivering on commitments, Tim helps build SureLine one relationship at a time. With an understanding that SureLine is primarily evaluated by the performance of our field teams, he strives to enable excellence through 24/7 accessibility of management and our logistical support group.
