Abderrahim Mahfoudi is Head of Business Development & Alliance Management for Abdul Latif Jameel Health, part of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of independent international, family-owned and diversified businesses, founded in 1945 by the late Abdul Latif Jameel. With broad experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, holding positions at Rhône-Poulenc Rorer (now Sanofi) including lead for gene therapy development and a number of research and development projects. He has also held business development positions in several biotechnology, technology transfer and CRO companies, including Sanofi, combining portfolio management, business development and strategic alliances management. Abderrahim was operations director for Sanofi's Translational Science Unit. Prior to joining Abdul Latif Jameel Health, Abderrahim has been the Director, External Science Innovation, Pierre Fabre Pharmaceuticals' Corporate Business Development and Licensing, where he has overseen the identification and evaluation of in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities as well as strategic research and development partnerships. Mr. Mahfoudi holds a PhD in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, from University of Franche Comté, Besançon, France following which, he successively held the position of Associate Professor at the Institute of Animal Biology at the University of Lausanne and then a research position at the Pasteur Institute in Lille before starting his career in the pharmaceutical industry. Akram Bouchenaki is Chief Executive Officer of Abdul Latif Jameel Health, Abdul Latif Jameel's health care business, focusing on accelerating access to modern medical care while addressing unmet medical needs in developing markets around the World. Abdul Latif Jameel Health is part of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of independent international, family-owned and diversified businesses, founded in 1945 by the late Abdul Latif Jameel. Mr. Bouchenaki joins Abdul Latif Jameel Health after 25 years of operational and strategic roles in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, including global leadership roles in ‘big-pharma' corporates as well as in top California-based biotech, where he was an executive director for Africa covering the largest markets on the continent. Akram has extensive knowledge and experience of both generics and branded medicines in established as well as key emerging markets across the world. These include Africa's most significant markets, Brazil, and Mexico, having co-founded a fast-growing start-up to commercialize medicines in Latin America. Akram holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Université de Paris V, France. He has lived and worked in 9 different countries across 5 continents. He speaks French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and English.

Gehan Sadek

Gehan Sadek is Head of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance for Abdul Latif Jameel Health, part of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of independent international, family-owned and diversified businesses, founded in 1945 by the late Abdul Latif Jameel. Gehan has more than 20 years' experience in the international pharmaceutical and health sector, across the Middle East and Africa, with multinationals including Organon, UCB, GSK, and Novartis. During her career Gehan has operated across the vastly diverse regulatory environments of a broad region and aimed at adapting the regulatory strategy of the business for whom she has worked to an ever evolving regulatory and compliance framework Prior to joining Abdul Latif Jameel Health, Gehan held the position of Director, Regulatory Affairs, Kyowa Kirin overseeing all regulatory and pharmacovigilance activities. Ms. Sadek holds a BCH Bachelor of Surgery of Veterinary Medicine from Assiut University, Cairo, and speaks Arabic and English.

Lord Ajay Kakkar

Lord Kakkar completed his medical degree at King's College Hospital Medical School, University of London and received his PhD from Imperial College London. His research interests include the prevention and treatment of venous and arterial thromboembolic disease and cancer associated thrombosis. Lord Kakkar is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) and the Royal College of Physicians (London) and an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He has Honorary Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India and Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford. He is a Trustee of the Foundation for Science and Technology and an Honorary Bencher of the Most Honorable Society of Middle Temple. Lord Kakkar was created a life peer in 2010, and sits on the crossbenches in the House of Lords. He was Chairman of the House of Lords Appointments Commission from 2013-2018. He is Chairman of the Judicial Appointments Commission and was appointed a member of Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council in 2014.
