A former firefighter, youth worker and with aspirations of playing Professional football in the CFL, at the young age of 22 the Autumn of 1993 brought devastating news for Chris. Chris was diagnosed with what Doctors believed at the time to be Leber's optic neuropathy robbing him of his vision, leaving him legally blind (following more recent studies Chris's vision loss has been determined to be from a result of concussions from playing football). Broke and unsure what the future would bring, in 1997 Chris developed the Chris Delaney "Vision Tour" which would have Chris with his support team behind him cycle across Canada raising funds to fight blindness.
