Adam Abate - COO

Adam is a co-founder and the interim Chief Operating Officer of Mission Bio. His proprietary research in high throughput and droplet technology helped lay the foundation for Mission Bio's single-cell genomics system. Adam is a Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at the University of California San Francisco and has received a number of awards and honors during his career, including the NSF CAREER Award, the NIH New Innovator Award, and the Presidential Early Career Award. Adam holds his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Adam is a co-founder of Mission Bio and heads cartridge and instrument development as Senior Director of Technology & Systems. He was first initiated into microfluidics when he joined Adam Abate's UCSF lab after receiving a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford. As a postdoc at UCSF, he took the fabrication and engineering skillset he learned from condensed matter physics and applied it to droplet manipulation, ultimately co-developing the technology that became the core of Mission Bio. He continues to be interested in tackling complex, interdisciplinary problems with physics.

Anjali Pradhan

Anjali is Vice President of Product Management at Mission Bio. She has launched cutting-edge products in DNA sequencing, RNA ISH, and multiplexed tissue imaging solutions. She has successfully developed and executed product roadmaps, business partnerships, and customer success programs in research and clinical markets. Previously, she held leadership positions at IONpath and Advanced Cell Diagnostics. She received a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from McGill University and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Pune.

Benjamin G. Schroeder

Ben Schroeder has over 20 years of experience in biotechnology R&D. His focus has been novel genomic technologies spanning small start-ups to large established companies. Ben started his career at Applied Biosystems (now Thermo Fisher Scientific). More recently, he served as Director of R&D at NuGEN Technologies (now Tecan Genomics), overseeing the release of several innovative NGS library prep kits. Ben received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Columbia University, his PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and post-doctoral training from NIAID and The Institute for Genomic Research.

Brian Kim - CEO

Brian is the Chief Executive Officer of Mission Bio. Brian has 20 years of life science experience creating innovative customer solutions for clinical end markets, developing high performing teams, and building high-growth companies. His prior roles include founder, CEO, executive board director, division president at large publicly traded and PE-backed companies such as Fortis Life Sciences, LGC, PerkinElmer, Life Technologies, and EMD Millipore. He has a BSE/ BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business.

Chris Mason

Chris Mason is Founder and CSO at AVROBIO, Inc. a clinical-stage, gene therapy company [NASDAQ AVRO]. He is a clinician-scientist with 30 years of cell and gene therapy experience spanning R&D, clinical medicine, and bioprocessing. He is a Full Professor of Cell and Gene Therapy in the Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering, University College London. In 2019, he was elected as a Fellow of The Academy of Medical Sciences. He is also a Founder and Board Director of OriBiotech Ltd., a company focused on next-generation fully-automated cell therapy bioprocessing, and Board Director of Krystal Biotech, Inc. [NASDAQ KRYS]. Dr. Mason was instrumental in the founding of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine (ARM), the UK-Israel Science Council, and the London Regenerative Medicine Network. He is on the SAB of several companies and the UK Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult, and the Canadian Centre for the Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM). Dr. Mason is Senior Editor of the journals Cell and Gene Therapy Insights and Regenerative Medicine.

Dan Landau

Dan Landau, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Core Member of the New York Genome Center. He is an oncologist whose long-term goal is to develop novel technologies to address cancer evolution as a central obstacle to cure. His research group is funded by the NCI, NHLBI, and NHGRI. His work has led to recognition and awards, including Stand Up to Cancer, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Vallee Scholar, and the NIH Director's New Innovator Award.

Dr. Jerald Radich

Dr. Jerald Radich is a Member of the Clinical Research Division, the Director of the Molecular Oncology Lab, and the Kurt Enslein Endowed Chair at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is Chair of the Leukemia Translational Medicine Committee of the Southwest Oncology Group. He was the inaugural Chair of the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Health Leukemia Steering Committee and a past member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the NIH Genome Research Institute. He is the past chair of the CML Committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a member of the European Leukemia Network CML committees, and is on the Scientific Board of the International CML Foundation and the Max Foundation. He currently leads the Laboratory Committee of the NCI AML Precision Medicine Initiative and leads the Foundation of the NIH's program in measurable residual disease in AML. Dr. Radich's laboratory research centers on the molecular biology of response, resistance, and progression in adult and chronic leukemia. In addition, the CLIA Molecular Oncology Lab provides the molecular diagnostic support for many institutional, U.S. Intergroup, international, and pharmaceutical trials. He was awarded the International CML Foundation Award in 2017 and the Washington Global Health Alliance Partnership Award in 2019 for his lab's work on diagnosing and monitoring CML in the developing world.

George Kopitas

George began his career as a research scientist at Pfizer and later moved to the tools side of the life sciences industry. Over the past 20 years, George has had leadership roles at companies in the genomics space and in stem cells and regenerative medicine. Prior to joining Mission Bio, George led the sales team at Cellular Dynamics, where he grew revenue from their startup phase through acquisition by FujiFilm, six years later. George completed his BS and MS in Microbiology from the University of Illinois.

Hannah Viernes - CMO

Hannah Viernes leads the marketing team and has over 15 years of experience across life sciences tool companies in both product management and marketing. Most recently, Hannah led the Global Marketing team at Thermo Fisher Scientific for the Clinical Sequencing Division, where she launched the Ion S5 Instruments, along with Ion AmpliSeq Products and applications. Hannah completed her BS in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Washington.

Ross L. Levine

Ross Levine is a Member of the Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) and an Attending Physician on the Leukemia Service, Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK). He is the Chief of the Molecular Cancer Medicine Service (HOPP), the Laurence Joseph Dineen Chair in Leukemia Research, a Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, and the Director of the MSK Center for Hematologic Malignancies. Dr. Levine earned his A.B. from Harvard College and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins. Dr. Levine served as a Resident in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and as a Hematology-Oncology Fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His laboratory has identified myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) predisposition alleles and characterized somatic genetic and epigenetic alterations in MPN and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, which has led to new mechanism-based therapies. He has been honored with the Dameshek Prize from the American Society of Hematology, a Scholar Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Boyer Award for Clinical Investigation from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and an NCI Outstanding Investigator R35 Award. In 2011 he was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation and in 2018 to the Association of American Physicians. In addition to Mission Bio, he serves on the Supervisory Board of Qiagen, the Scientific Advisory Boards of Zentalis, Auron, Prelude, C4 Therapeutics, Isoplexis, Mana Therapeutics, and was on the Scientific Advisory Board of Loxo Oncology.

Todd Druley

Todd Druley, MD, PhD established his career as a board-certified pediatric oncologist and tenured physician-scientist in molecular genomics at Washington University School of Medicine and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Todd's research program focused on improving molecular diagnostics for a variety of cancers, but specifically myeloid leukemia. He has published over 60 peer reviewed manuscripts, patented error-corrected NGS methods to improve AML MRD detection by next-generation sequencing and built clinical programs based on genetic predisposition to cancer. Prior to joining Mission Bio, he served as CMO of ArcherDX and ANGLE Biosciences since 2019.
