Amy King

Job Titles:
  • Professional Mentor / Friend
Hi, my name is Amy! I am thrilled to be working as a professional mentor for Friends of The Children. I have been working with elementary age youth for the last 7 years. Most recently, I taught 4th grade for 3 years. My experience as a public-school teacher increased my passion to help kids find and learn about their talents and self-worth. I'm very excited to transition my skills into mentoring and working one on one with youth. One thing to know about me is that I love the outdoors! In my free time or on the weekends you can find me hiking, skiing, running, camping, roller skating at the park, or reading outside. I am also a big reader and can spend hours curled up with a good book; my favorite genres are fantasy or mystery. I have a 4-year-old dog, she's an aussie/heeler mix named Indie and she loves humans, treats, and belly rubs.

Will Medina

Job Titles:
  • Lead Friend / Professional Mentor
I am so excited to be part of the Friends of the Children - Utah team! I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Music Education and dreamed of being a music teacher. I moved from Kansas City, MO to Kotzebue, Alaska in order to fulfill that dream. I traveled to 11 different remote, rural Alaskan villages teaching music one week at a time. I faced many challenges in that work and grew to love my job, although I slept on couches or inflatable beds and ate way too many canned soups during those years. During the pandemic I realized I wanted to be closer to my family, so I moved to Salt Lake City, a halfway point between my family in Kansas City and my family in California. I love music, art, dancing, creating, cooking, eating, movies, working out, and I always love learning new things.

Zach Craigmile

  • Professional Mentor / Friend
My name is Zach, and I am excited to be a member of a team like Friends of the Children, whose sole focus is helping others achieve their goals! I studied environmental sustainability at the University of Utah and focused primarily on environmental justice. I have worked as an educator for some time, with jobs in ESL, special education and outdoor education. Outside of work, I am an avid hiker, rock-climber and knowledge seeker. I've been in Utah for just a few years, and have spent most of my adult life traveling around the world volunteering my time to causes I believe in. I've been to 18 different countries and 30 different states! Throughout this time, I've learned that where we have been can determine where we are, but where we are does not define where we can go.
