Ardythe L. Morrow

Dr. Morrow received her MSc in nutrition from the University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica (1980) and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Texas at Houston (1991). Since 1987 she has worked with colleagues in Mexico, Boston, and Houston on an NIH-funded program project on human milk immune protection against infectious disease. She is currently professor of pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center within the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She founded and directs the Center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics that has 35 faculty and staff and a multi-disciplinary Human Milk Research Program that includes clinical and basic science investigators in eight divisions. She has published extensively on breastfeeding promotion and human milk protection against infectious diseases. Her primary focus is on protection by human milk glycans and protection against infectious disease, but she has expanded her research to understanding the relationship between breastfeeding and chronic diseases. She has been an ad hoc reviewer for NIH on breastfeeding research and a technical advisor for international breastfeeding policy and programs for Gates Foundation, UNICEF, and WHO, is on the editorial board of the Journal of Human Lactation and the journal of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She is an elected member of the American Pediatric Society. She has over 100 publications, and is the primary author of the WHO monograph, Community-based Strategies for Breastfeeding Promotion and Support in Developing Countries (2004). She has served as chair of the Milk Club of the (American) Society for Pediatric Research for the past four years. In 1997, she received a Young Investigator award from ISRHML for her randomized trial of breastfeeding support (Lancet, 1999). She was co-organizer of the 2002 ISRHML international meeting in Mexico and is co-editor of the book "Protecting Infants through Human Milk: Advancing the Scientific Evidence."

Dr. David S. Newburg

Dr. David S. Newburg is one of the founding members of Glycosyn and the chairman of Glycosyn Scientific Advisory Board. He was awarded a BS in Chemistry by the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), and a PhD in Biochemistry with minors in Nutrition and neuroscience from Boston University. He previously served for over two decades on the faculty of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he directed the Program in Glycobiology. Dr. Newburg directed Boston College's Program in Glycobiology. The National Institutes of Health, Industry and Research Foundations have supported the research program directed by Dr. Newburg continuously since 1976. Dr. Newburg edited the book, Bioactive Components of Human Mile and is the author of more than 120 publications on carbohydrate biochemistry, glycan analysis, bioactive constituents of human milk, nutrition, human intestinal microbiota, and human milk components that protect infants and modulate the innate immunity system. He is active in scientific professional societies of chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, glycobiology, pediatrics, clinical nutrition, human milk and lactation, microbiology, nutritional sciences, and mucosal immunology, and has organized scientific meetings and symposia. He has been president of the Boston Glycobiology Discussion Group since it was founded in 1994, and is a founding board member and chair of the Research Advisory Board of the Mother's Milk Bank of New England, and active in the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. Dr. Newburg serves as a reviewer for many research grants and scientific manuscripts at the federal and international level, and is a regularly invited international speaker and recognized expert in human milk glycobiology and infant development.

Howard M. Newburg

Howard M. Newburg, CPA, (BBA in Busines Administration, University of Massachusetts-Amherst; MS in Taxation, Bentley College) is the CEO (President) and CFO (Treasurer) of Glycosyn and a member of the Glycosyn Business Advisory Board. He is the CEO and Managing Partner of Newburg & Company, LLP, which, since its founding in 1984, has been built into a full-service organization providing innovative accounting, auditing, tax and business management advisory services. Mr. Newburg specializes in financial planning, tax issues, litigation support, valuation, and consulting, and his diplomacy, discretion, and ability to communicate have earned Newburg & Company, LLP a loyal and appreciative clientele. Mr. Newburg is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst, He is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (Committee on Litigation Consulting, Committee on Business Valuation), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and American Society of Appraisers.

Ingrid Beattie

Ingrid Beattie, PhD, Esq. is a member in the Intellectual Property Section at Mintz, Levin. Her practice emphasizes patent prosecution in the area of biotechnology, particularly in the fields of molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, cardiovascular medicine, clinical diagnostics, and medical devices, and includes advising clients on issues relating to patent portfolio management and licensing. Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Dr. Beattie was a Technology Transfer Associate at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and then practiced at another prominent Boston law firm. Dr. Beattie is a Past-President of the Boston Patent Law Association. She has been a frequent speaker at Biotechnology Industry Organization conferences, and is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society and of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). Dr. Beattie is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She received her B.S. in biology from Fairfield University (1979), and her Ph.D. in immunology and microbiology from Emory University School of Medicine (1990). Ingrid was awarded her J.D., cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School (1998).

John H. Chu

John H. Chu is a partner at Prince Lobel Tye LLP (www.princelobel.com), based in Boston. Previously, he was managing partner of Chu, Ring & Hazel, LLP ,which combined with Prince Lobel at the beginning of 2020. His practice focuses on the representation of growing enterprises, venture capital transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. John has represented scores of private and public companies in connection with a range of legal matters, including founder and shareholder arrangements, employment agreements, equity financings, including seed round, private placements, venture capital financings, securities law compliance, acquisitions and divestitures, and other strategic arrangements of various kinds. His current clients are enterprises and individuals engaged in a variety of businesses, including consumer products, services and biotechnology, biomedical, robotics, internet, semiconductor, medical device, software and other technologies. John graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in anthropology and he earned his J.D. at the Columbia University Law School. He began his legal career as an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson and then McGarrahan & Heard (now part of Arent Fox LLP) both in New York City. John subsequently joined Bingham McCutchen LLP (now part of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP) in Boston, where he was a partner in its business area from 1988 until co-founding Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP in 1995. John is an active member of the Boston Bar Association, in addition to being former chair of the Joint Audit Committee of the Boston Bar Association and Boston Bar Foundation and former treasurer and council member of that organization. He currently serves as a trustee of the Kripalu Yoga Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and in the past he has served on other non-profit boards, including Discovering Justice (www.discoveringjustice.org) where he was former chair of its Finance-Audit Committee, and the Boston Bar Foundation. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Commission (appointed by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick). John M. McCoy

John has nearly 30 years experience as a research scientist and senior research executive in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, specifically as Senior Director of Molecular Biology and Gene Expression at Genetics Institute and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, as Vice President of Discovery Biology at Biogen Idec, and as Chief Scientific Officer at RenaMed Biologics. John's broad background includes expertise in protein and general biochemistry, recombinant protein expression and cell culture in both microbial and mammalian systems, molecular biology and genomics, and disease biology in the areas of immunology/inflammation, oncology, neurodegeneration / neurorepair, fibrosis, and renal and placental disorders. John is author of over 60 research articles. He is also an inventor on 45 issued United States patents in the areas of recombinant gene expression technology, gene discovery technology, protein-protein interaction methods, novel genes, therapeutic proteins and modified therapeutic proteins.

Jose Ignacio Jimenez Santos

Jose Ignacio Jimenez Santos, a member of the Glycosyn Business Advisory Board, since 2011, has been head of the International Business for Grupo Financiero Inbursa that includes investments in public and private companies around the world. Prior to this responsibility, Mr. Jimenez Santos was involved in asset management, investment banking, special projects, analysis and corporate bank activities for the same group. He started his professional career at Inbursa in 1996. He received his Economics and Finance Degree from Mexican Institute of Technology (ITAM).

Phillips Kuhl

Mr. Kuhl is the co-founder of Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI) and has been president of the company since the company began in 1992. Mr. Kuhl has been responsible for the steady and profitable growth of the business to its current scope of organizing more than 150 conferences and tracks during the current fiscal year, all focused on biotechnology and pharmaceutical issues.

Vidar J. Jorgensen

Vidar J. Jorgensen, a member of the Glycosyn Board of Directors, graduated from Harvard College in 1969 with honors in political science. Mr. Jorgensen is the majority owner of six industry based conference and research companies, which in turn own and manage over 200 conferences and several membership-based research groups focused on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, health care, insurance, financial services, entertainment, and infrastructure development. Mr. Jorgensen's companies include CBI Research, Inc., WRG Research, Inc., Cambridge Healthtech Institute, Cambridge Healthtech Advisory and The World Health Care Congress, which was launched in conjunction with The Wall Street Journal and CNBC. This latter partnership will be expanding in both Europe and the United States. Jorgensen is also the President and member of the Board of Directors of Grameen America, a microfinance organization started in 2007 in Jackson Heights, NY. In addition to Grameen America, Jorgensen is a supporter of Grameen projects worldwide.
