David Palmer

David Palmer is a senior associate at Chiropractic Care Clinics. David graduated from the University of Wales in Cardiff in 1989, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following this, he then attended the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. He was amongst the first group of students to graduate from their new five-year masters degree programme. David worked in Bournemouth and Dorchester whilst completing his DC qualification, joining the BCA and the College of Chiropractors in 1999. David has undertaken a post-graduate programme in techniques specializing in treating problems of the peripheral joints (i.e. shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees and feet). He gained the Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner qualification. He has also completed the 100-hour course in Basic Applied Kinesiology (AK). This employs manual muscle testing as a means of evaluating the structural, chemical and mental aspects of a patient. David is married with three children and has inadvertent local links - as part of his engineering degree he worked on the construction of the Illminster bypass.

Erika Anderson joins us from Shaftesbury, where she has been a practicing chiropractor for 3 years. Erika is passionate about helping people of all ages reach optimum health. She is experienced in helping people manage chronic pain conditions as well as pregnancy care, babies and children. Erika first trained as a classical musician and went on to teach flute, piano and music theory. We discovered our very own Martin Young (who previously worked for Trevor James & Co many years ago) even imported the flute she played! While teaching music, Erika also trained in various complimentary therapies including massage and Reiki before completing her Master of Chiropractic qualification.

Jennifer Casemore

Jennifer Casemore joined us from Salisbury, where she had been a practicing chiropractor for more than 25 years. As well as having a passion for helping people, Jenny is also trained in animal chiropractic and has a particular interest in horses. Jenny started her working life as a riding instructor. She says through this role she became aware of the importance of body control in keeping balance and how asymmetries can develop as a result of trauma or repetitive strain.

Kate Willis is a qualified holistic and sports massage therapist. Kate trained with the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB). She gained a Level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage and then a Level 5 Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage. Kate is a member of the Massage Training Institute (MTI) and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). She is bound by their codes of ethics and professional standards.

Lisa Kirk-Horrell

Lisa Kirk-Horrell attended the University of Thessaloniki and the University of Cardiff, before enrolling on an aromatherapy and massage course. She trained at the Tisserand Institute in London, graduating in 1996. Lisa joined our clinic team in 1998 and became a partner in the business the following year. Lisa lives in South Somerset with husband Dr Martin and three children.

Martin Young

Martin Young is one of our clinic directors. Martin graduat ed from the University of Nottingham in 1984, with an honours degree in Physics. He worked in the wine trade and music industry before attending the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. Martin graduated in 1996, as best academic student. Martin has taught biophysics, biomechanics, neurology, clinical medicine and general diagnosis at undergraduate level. He has also lectured to postgraduate groups on research dissemination, temporomandibular dysfunction and medicolegal expertise. Martin's publications include over fifty articles in professional biomedical journals. He has been an Editor of the international peer reviewed journal Clinical Chiropractic and its predecessor The British Journal of Chiropractor from 1996-2013. He has written two medical textbooks: Essential Physics for Manual Medicine (2010) and Essential Musculoskeletal MRI (2011). In 1999, Martin was elected as an inaugural Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors. He became a double fellow in 2016, being elected as an inaugural Fellow of its Faculty of Pain, whom he serves as honorary secretary. Martin is the first chiropractor to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and as a Member of the Expert Witness Institute. He still regularly gives expert opinions in cases of alleged chiropractic negligence. Martin has received fellowships from the British Chiropractic Association and the European Academy of Chiropractic. He has twice been awarded the Royal College of Chiropractors President's Award for outstanding services to the profession.

Melanie Hammick qualified as a counsellor in 2005. She worked as a counsellor for 3 years within the NHS before working as a student counsellor in a local college. Melanie has been in private practice for the last 6 years. She has a wide experience of working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Melanie is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adheres to their code of ethics and confidentiality.

Rachel Cartwright is Chiropractic Care Clinics' Practice Manager. Rae has been a member of the Clinic team since Antoinette Young was the sole practitioner at Preston Road. She has seen it grow to the thriving business it is today. Rae is responsible, along with her the Deputy Manager, Sue, for coordinating between our three clinics, from front desk to office.

Sian Davies Todd

Sian Davies Todd is a highly experienced chiropractor, who has been in practice since 2004. She graduated from the University of Surrey with a Master's Degree in Chiropractic, following an earlier science degree and a career in management. Sian retrained as a chiropractor after successful chiropractic treatment helped her recover from a serious back injury. Sian's style is to treat each person as a unique individual, trying to understand their needs, expectations and physical capabilities. In treatment, she uses a mixture of manipulation, muscle release techniques, and acupuncture or dry needling to achieve best results. Sian is enthusiastic in offering rehabilitation and exercise programmes to further the healing which takes place as part of the clinic treatment. Sian works with pregnant women and mothers to help achieve a pain free pregnancy and post-partum life. This includes managing pubic symphysis dysfunction and other pelvic pain. She also has a particular interest in problems involving the shoulders, knees and ankles.

Susan White is Chiropractic Care Clinics' Assistant Practice Manager. Sue has worked for our clinics since 2005, first as Senior Receptionist and then as Assistant Practice Manager. She has a history in bookkeeping so is able to liaise between desk, office and accountant. Sue single-handedly managed the Clinic while our Practice Manager Rae took a ‘gap year' in 2012/2013. She is now an invaluable part of the team, helping the three clinics work together to provide excellent patient service.
