Alison started her training as an Adult Nurse in Southport 1981 In 1985 she started her career at Alder Hey where she developed an interest in theatre nursing. She then commenced on an Operating Department Nursing course where she gained experience in all specialities. On completion of the course she returned to Alder Hey theatres and developed a special interest in Orthopaedics. In 1994 she returned to her studies and qualified as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse. In 2005 she was asked to join the Limb Reconstruction team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, were she divides her time between theatre and outpatients (fixator nurse) clinic. As part of the Liverpool LRS team she teaches nationally and international.

Dave is a member of the British Limb Reconstruction Society, and has been an integral part of the renowned Liverpool Limb Deformity Correction Team, helping maintain best practice within the service and helping introduce new management methods into the care of these patients. He has lectured domestically and internationally at conferences and on courses regarding the management of patients undergoing deformity correction.
Dave is also a member of Haemophilia Chartered Physiotherapists Association offering developmental; assessments, care and support for individuals suffering from bleeding disorders.
Dawn has 26 years experience in the NHS and have been with the team for many years. The team has grown so much over this time. She thoroughly enjoys being part of the LRS Family.
Donna is a specialist nurse who qualified from John Moore's University in 2005. She has spent her nursing carer in orthopaedics and in 2013 gained her current role as Limb Reconstruction Specialist Nurse. Donna's role includes supporting LRS patients with their treatment and issues which they may occur from treatment i.e pin site or wound issues. She also offers support to wider MDT in the community by liaising with district nurses and GP's regarding treatment. Donna is involved in all LRS patients and their required wound management including specialist plastic procedures and is always happy to advise and support.
Elizabeth is a Physiotherapist in the LRS team. She qualified from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2003.
Fiona Daglish qualified as a physiotherapist in 1990; having gained a breadth of experience within respiratory, neuro rehabilitation, musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, burns and plastic surgery across the North West of England, she settled on specialising in trauma and orthopaedics and was appointed inpatient physiotherapy team lead at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 1995.
Fiona's interest in the management of trauma and deformity within circular fixators was peaked when Mr S Nayagam was appointed in 1997 and she has been part of the Adult Liverpool Limb Reconstruction Service since its inception.
She has attended courses and conferences as both delegate and speaker across the UK and internationally: this has given Fiona extensive experience in building and adjusting fixators to enhance patient function and facilitate rehabilitation and recovery alongside more traditional physiotherapy treatment.
Working alongside specialist nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues Fiona is involved in pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients for surgery, and post-operative assessment and management of complex trauma and deformity correction.
Giles qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in Liverpool in 1990. He commenced his career at Broadgreen Hospital to gain general physiotherapy experience as a rotational staff member, he then undertook a musculoskeletal rotation before specialising in Lower limb musculoskeletal patients as a team leader in 1995.
Helen is a Physiotherapist who graduated from The University of Manchester in 2001. She completed her rotations within acute hospitals in the Manchester region and specialised in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2005. She has a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and holds postgraduate qualifications in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.

Mel is a Physiotherapist who graduated from Coventry University in 1999. Having spent the majority of her career treating Musculoskeletal outpatients, she became a static member of the Limb Reconstruction Team in 2015.

Badri Narayan has been working as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with subspecialty interest in Limb reconstruction Surgery at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals from 2002.
He is an examiner for the national and international intercollegiate Surgical Board. He was previously Training Programme Director for the Mersey Region, member of the Specialist
Mr. Fischer completed his higher surgical training in Greater Manchester. He has completed fellowships in Liverpool and Birmingham, focusing on all aspects of limb reconstruction.

After graduating he trained in internal medicine in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, gaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000, and then obtained a PhD in Immunology, working in the Infectious Diseases department at St George's Hospital, London.

Kiran Saldanha is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Whiston and St Helens Hospitals. He has been employed in the NHS since 2001. He trained in Orthopaedics in the Mersey region and completed a fellowship in Limb Reconstruction in Sheffield.
He is a lower limb Orthopaedic Surgeon managing problems arising from arthritis, sports injuries and foot deformities. He provides comprehensive service for limb trauma and reconstruction working closely with the Plastic Surgeons from the Mersey Regional Plastic Surgery Unit.

Mr Leroy James is originally from Trinidad & Tobago and studied medicine at University of the West Indies before commencing his orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery. His fellowship training in paediatric orthopaedic surgery and limb reconstruction took place at Alder Hey, Oswestry and Melbourne, Australia. He has also visited units in Bristol, Milan and Murnau, Germany.
Mr James is a faculty member for several orthopaedic courses and provides specialist services for limb lengthening, amputation, skeletal dysplasia and metabolic bone disorders. He has a specialist interest in limb deformity surgery, complex foot & ankle pathology, infection and trauma.
Mr James is currently the clinical director of the orthopaedic department at Alder Hey Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Nick Peterson graduated from Liverpool University and spent time working in Melbourne, Australia before returning to join the Mersey trauma and orthopaedic rotation.
During training he was awarded national and regional prizes, published and presented at a national and international level and co-created the mobile application OrthoFlow.
His specialist interest is limb reconstruction surgery and after completing his training in Liverpool he visited units in Baltimore - USA, Cape Town - South Africa and Fukushima - Japan.
Mr Peterson also has a paediatric limb reconstruction practice at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he treats congenital and acquired conditions affecting the upper and lower limbs in children and runs a transition service that allows continuity of care into adulthood.
His practice includes the use of internal and external devices for deformity correction including limb lengthening with magnetic intramedullary nails.
Along with his colleagues in the limb reconstruction department he offers treatment of congenital and acquired deformity, nonunions, posttraumatic deformities and bone infections. Mr Peterson also offers treatment for knee and ankle arthritis.

Mr Selvadurai Nayagam is a limb reconstruction surgeon who has international recognition for his expertise in the care of paediatric and adult patients.
After completing his orthopaedic training in the 1990s, Mr Nayagam set up the limb reconstruction teams in Liverpool at both Alder Hey and the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen Hospitals. This limb reconstruction team has been established as a centre of excellence within the field for many years and has a network of alumni around the globe.,
Mr Nayagam is an editor-in-chief of the journal Strategies in Trauma & Limb Reconstruction and has also edited textbooks such as 'Apley's System of Orthopaedics and Fractures' and ‘Paediatric Orthopaedics: A System of Decision Making'. His work on national and international committees has helped to shape standards and guidelines in the field.
Having retired in June 2019 he is currently working part time with his successors and will retire from clinical practice in 2020.

Mr Simon Graham is a Limb Reconstruction Surgeon and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He also has honorary positions at the university of Oxford and the University of Cape Town. Simon completed his orthopaedic and trauma training in Merseyside and undertook a fellowship in limb reconstruction in Cape Town, South Africa.
He joined the department in 2020 and has an interest in acute complex trauma, open fractures, non-union surgery and bone infection. He has completed a PhD investigating fracture healing in HIV positive patients and he is actively involved with research across sub-Saharan Africa.
Simon has also completed a master's degree in mechanical engineering and published widely in the literature, presented his research internationally and leads a team developing global orthopaedic research in low-income countries.
Paula qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in Liverpool in 1982. having commenced her career at Aintree Hospitals to gain general physiotherapy experience as a rotational staff member, she moved to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital to pursue her keen interest in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and was appointed as team leader for inpatient trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery there in 1986.

Rose trained in Liverpool doing the combined registration course (RGN /RSCN) in 1980. In 1984 started her career journey in Orthopaedics doing the Orthopaedic Nursing Certificate at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. On completion of the course worked as a Staff Nurse then Ward Sister on the Paediatric Unit at Oswestry 1994 she was appointed to her current post. Initially appointed to set up and provide a Hospital at Home service to support early discharge. The role now also includes a specialist nurse role within the Limb Reconstruction and Hip teams.
Yvonne was one of the founding members of the limb reconstruction service from its very beginning so she has seen it all. Including all its ups and downs!
