Dr. Archer McWhorter

Dr. McWhorter is one of the co-founders of Actuarial Research Group. He has a Ph.D. in statistics and management science from the University of Michigan and is a faculty member in the Decision and Information Sciences Department at the University of Houston. Dr. McWhorter was a consultant to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' (NAIC) 1975-78 Malpractice Closed Claim Study. He also worked from 1982 to 1997 with several insuring organizations representing several hundred hospitals to establish an ongoing national database of closed hospital malpractice claims. Work on this database has led to several doctoral dissertations chaired by Dr. McWhorter.

James C. Whisenant

Mr. Whisenant, who joined the firm in September 1986, is an actuary with thirty years experience evaluating long-tailed property/casualty lines. He has a B.A. in mathematics from Rice University (1972) and an M.B.A. with a concentration in statistics from the University of Houston (1980), where he graduated with honors. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (A.C.A.S., 1994) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (M.A.A.A., 1994).

Myron F. Steves - Founder

Myron F. Steves is the other co-founder of Actuarial Research Group. Mr. Steves has completed all requirements except the dissertation for his Ph.D. in economics and insurance from the University of Pennsylvania. Although he was active in the firm during its early years, his role has evolved over time into one of industry consultant. His day-to-day involvement in the malpractice insurance marketplace provides an extremely important industry perspective to complement the more-traditional actuarial analysis of exposure and loss information.

Sarah Cardin

Job Titles:

Ms. Cardin joined the firm in April 1995. She completed her B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in statistics at Texas A&M University in 1994. She is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (A.C.A.S., 2016) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (M.A.A.A., 2016).
